CMJ
Nice. Thanks for sharing old school. $11-$12 would be more than fair. $11-12 is fair. With Britt facing possible suspension, the FO needs to get this done sooner rather than later.
T-RAC
Yes, a team needs to win OR have a marquee player to sell the (non-PSL) seats. Assuming a team believes they are making the right moves to win more games I don't think player marketability gets a second thought. And it shouldn't. In what world does not having CJ THIS year, win more games? Is ringer all of a sudden better than CJ? The reasoning behind not signing CJ has to do with future implications- not winning this year. One reason I think this deal will get done is the simple fact CJ loves getting his yards. He always has high expectations going into the season and missing one game could jeopardize that. IMO CJ will push to get a deal done near the final preseason game. Let's hope anyway.
NoD
Well that's an interesting change of pace after MR saying they couldn't even agree on parameters.
CMJ
Well that's an interesting change of pace after MR saying they couldn't even agree on parameters. I wonder if the looming Britt suspension had anything to do with it. No way we can win Week 1 with both of our playmakers out.
Number9
Well that's an interesting change of pace after MR saying they couldn't even agree on parameters. Really, that appears to be true. MR's parameters are 8-9 million and CJ's are 10-15 million. Although, I think CJ and his agent are most likely being misrepresented in the rumors. I think CJ has a qualified agent and he is not asking for ridiculous money. To MR's credit, he also seems to be leaking actual monetary offers, instead of the drawing the line in the sand saying show up then we talk. I imagine the two sides are very close now and a deal will be done before the end of the week.
BaddKarma
I was listening to Mike and Mike on the way into work this morning, Don't ask why just go with it, And he said the Titans FO wants to pay CJ between 8m-9m a year where CJ wants 10m-15m. He also said that the Titans FO is confident it will get done before the season. If this is true then I believe CJ will sign for 11m-12m a year. Personally I think that is too much for a RB but considering the money that is flying around for other players, It may be what the market dictates. Titans willing to enter a suicide pact with this guy? Way too much money for a RB, that simple. They have a much higher higher instance of injury and are more easily schemed into suppression than any other offensive position. I do not understand this stance if true on the part of the Titans. Let him go some where else for picks. This is a QB league and this team still does not have one that can take them to the elite level they need to be at to compete for a championship. Tank it for Luck!
bizzyeddie
Prag, if the Titans come out and win 3 of the first 4 games people will flock to the stadium with or without CJ in the backfield. . If CJ comes back and rushes for 1000 yards in 6 games but the Titans are 0-6, the stadium will look like a ghost town. Winning puts people in seats. Nashville does not have a hardcore fanbase which is a topic for another day and times like these prove it. thats not the argument..of course winning cures everything but some of us believe that we have a much better chance of winning with CJ. Jamalisms
In my opinion, the Deangelo Williams contract is more damning than the Fitzgerald contract. How they paid that guy so much money when he is always injured and is in a time-share... I don't know. I'm sure CJ looks at that and thinks he should be getting 2x as much. It's just a crazy contract. Hopefully this is accurate and ends the talks of "playmaker" money.
Jd8
Let Chris Johnson hold out for a Larry Fitz contract while Ringer replaces him in the backfield and does well. It's a risk he cannot afford to take. He is not worried about Ringer in the least bit.
ZEPPELIN
He is not worried about Ringer in the least bit. He should be more worried about the fact that we got 198 yards on the ground the other night, which is more than we got as a team in any game last year. RB by committee can work and does work. I don't think you can plan a team's future based on a guy who only makes a handful of big plays a season. It just doesn't make enough difference to justify $10+ million per year. Considering we only scored 1 TD, sputtered to finish off drives, and ultimately lost the game...no, I don't think CJ is worried at all. I think he is salivating right now because he sees the improvement in the offense and the O-line play. He saw the same holes opened up that the fans saw. He might have had 3 TDs in 10 touches the other night. He needs to stay here behind this line, and he has a good chance at many more probowls. It's like Favre wanting to go to Minn instead of the Bengals.
