Running the ball on 3rd down was absolutely the correct decisions, LOL @ blaming that one the reason the Colts loss. Throwing an incomplete pass there and saving the Ravens 40 seconds would have been a complete dumbass decision.

The Ravens had 1:09 and 70yds to go. They were down to 31 seconds and 70yds and allowed that blown coverage, laughable defense there. You have Miller and Elvis to rush Flacco and they have no timeouts.

You'd be an idiot not to run the ball there.

Great moment @ 1.5 hours after the game, Peyton Manning and his family waited to congratulate @raylewis52.com #ravens pic.twitter.com/5makjqp9

Great pic of 2 of the game's all time greats.

By the way, football is a team game. Manning didn't lose game all by himself.

1) 1st INT PI before catch not called

2) Penalties galore on Denver

3) Boldin non catch called catch late in game on sideline extended Raven drive

4) End of game neel down

5) 3 straight runs before last regulation Raven possession

6) R Moore IDIOT play

Manning didn't lose game all by himself.

No but he had multiple fumbles and a crucial INT in another terrible playoff game.

For all his greatness you cannot ignore his terrible play in the postseason

You MUST have a great defense no matter the QB. It was proven again today.

to this I add a dominant offensive line ...these 2 factors show up no matter the weather, no matter the breaks, and are largely effort dependent, not necessarily qb reads, or timing..

In a perfect NFL team world, Peyton would be the QB in the regular season to guarantee homefield advantage in the playoffs, then Eli would takeover for the playoffs.

Although it pains me to say it in manning's defense that pick six was blatant pass interference. The refs had a few make-up calls after which confirmed it for me. He shouldn't have thrown that ball anyway though so its not all on the refs.

It was clearly passable as PI in slow motion replay. Real time is another matter. If you don't want 7 points against you to come down to a 50/50 real time ref call, don't throw a pass that will let it happen. Guys like Peyton are supposed to have that sort of control, and he usually does, when it isn't January.

With Manning it is a double edged sword because while he had a few blunders he also made some ridiculously perfect passes for scores. So not to make excuses for him since that int in OT was inexcusable I was thinking what my perspective would be if that were the Titans getting beat in exactly the same fasion. Which Titan player/coach would I want to beat sensless with a baseball bat after the game? It probably woudn't be my QB.

My God they had everything set up perfectly. The Ravens have a minute and 70 yards and have to score a TD with no TOs. You can let them catch any passes you want in bounds short of the endzone. One 20 yard pass in the middle of the field means a huge chunk of time is off the clock before they even clock the ball. At best you figure if you lose that game it is on some hail Mary tip or something. No way the can run the ball at all. So yo basically 1. don't let anyone behind you, and 2. while you may allow a 5 yard out you figure they are going to the sideline most of the time.

So the Ravens knowing they have only a prayer do exactly what I would do if I was their coach. You know you have 4 plays to get a first down so why not heave a long pass down the sidelines on two of them. You might get a tipped ball, a great catch or a pass interference. But never in your dreams could you imagine a WR getting behind the defense clean for an easy score. Holy crap! That has to go down in the history of the NFL as the biggest screw up ever. The beating with the baseball bat goes to a couple of DBs and the coaching staff, not Manning. The game should never have made it to overtime. You play 4 deep coverage and never in a million years let a guy behind you. It is that simple.

Agreed. I would also use the bat on message board posters who can't seem to fathom this and blame the QB.

Charles Woodson, the 36 year old often all pro (including 2011 first team) DB for the Packers and the rightful winner of the 97 Heisman.

Oh.

I thought when you mentioned Ray Lewis in that same sentence that you were confusing Ed Reed with Rod Woodson.

Man I had to keep rubbing my eyes i thought that was Chros Hope playing the deep ball on that play with 1 minute left.

How the hell does that happen when you don't have Anthony Dorsett, Lance Schulters, Chris Hope or Lamont playing for you? I thought that shit only happened to us.

The only reason the Broncos were even up at the end was because Holliday gave them an extra 14 points. The Broncos offense was pedestrian most of the game, in large part because of Manning's turnovers and inability to stretch the field.
