Stranger
But as an average fan, how do you know? Anyone?
CMJ
The good news for Fisher is that his team will retain its current draft and waiver slot in 2013.
OILERMAN
Anyone? The average fan won't know how well the OL play unless it's a drastic good or bad player. We all know the Cards LT is terrible. But when you start trying to figure out how well the interior OL play it's more guessing because of the unknowns with assignments and such
titanruss
Anyone? obviously this guy was pretty decent or could be because 4 teams put waiver claims in on him... and if the rams didn't get him, the titans were still last on the list. as a common fan I have zero idea how one could put value on a guy who never really played as a rookie and was on IR last year. Oiler FANatic
The Rams are more than welcome to this one who's just another project, why would you want a Shelley on the team anyway.
Supdawg
How does one judge how good an offensive lineman for another team is anyway? Seriously, I've always wondered. Tim
Every team has scouts that scout every team's players, this is what Lake Dawson is in charge of for the Titans. Mike Lombardi said when he was with the raiders, al davis would pop quiz him on who the starting whatever was on any random team every morning. HOTT
Aren't waiver claims based on draft placement and not player choice? Correct--the out of work player has no choice about placement or terms.
charleytolar
Correct--the out of work player has no choice about placement or terms. Isn't that true only if someone makes a Waiver claim on them in the alotted time (24-48 hours)? If not, then they are a Free Agent and can sign with any team they can convince to offer them a contract. There was a rumor that the Redkins wanted Mooney. How did they not end up with him unless the Waiver Claim period ran out and then they and the Titans pursued him. I guess for the Redskins to outright claim him on Waivers, perhaps they would have had to cut someone else when what they wanted to do was just sign Mooney directly to the Practice Squad.... I guess. The Skins wanted Mooney on their practice squad. The waiver wire is only in effect for the 53 man roster. When it comes to the practice squad the player in question has his own choice which team he wants to be a part of the practice squad with.
Cyrus
Like Oilerman stated, once you pass through waivers you are a free agent. You can sign with any team you'd like either on their active roster or practice squad. And as a practice squad player you can sign to any teams active roster at any time. The Titans obviously need some more depth on the interior of the offensive line and Texans offensive lineman are some of the best coached zone blockers in the league. charleytolar
Yes, I was pointing out that a PS player is not "out-of-work." So the Redskins evidently wanted Mooney but not enough to claim him off Waivers....
Legaltitan
Aren't waiver claims based on draft placement and not player choice? Shh, facts may interrupt agendas.
