The Second Half Surge Starts Sunday

Realistically if this team was ever to have success it was going to begin now. Rookie QB, massive roster turnover, youth everywhere and the strength of the schedule tilted to the early games. It has been hard scrabble bad football.  But here comes the turn.

 - Get the best player on the team back in Simmons, a decent piece in Key, and injecting the speed and physicality of Winston -- added to a surprisingly solid Day, Lynch upfront and the best of the 2nd year guys in Gray.  Plus playing the Texans without Stroud, a banged up Mills and the potential of a Graham Mertz day.

- Return Ridley to an overarchieving Dike, Ayomanor,  Helm - with healthy backfield in Pollard and Spears - and an offensive line that should finally be gelling and able to pass off rushers and pick up stunts.

- I believe in Cam Ward.  I believe he will begin to play Cam Ward winning football (particularly when the coaching staff says f'it we've got nothing to lose).

Could we be just as bad in these final games as we have been to date? Of course. But I'm going glass half full Sunday and saying that we are about to see the beginnings of the rebuilt starting to return dividends.

Id like us to win 3-4 games to close out the season. This rookie class needs to experience what it takes and how it feels to win in this league. Losing breeds losing habits and thats tough to exterminate.

We play the saints, browns and week 17 against the jags that could already be in the playoffs... so its possible.

Let me put this in different terms. Would the lets win some games crowd....

Trade joe alt or malik nabors for a win and jc latham?

Trade abdul carter, a first a 2nd and more picks for 2 or 3wins?

That is what you are giving up for these make the guys feel good going into next year wins.

This year its the top edge rusher in the draft vs a couple wins, or multiple top 60 picks and possibly still the best edge in he draft. We win 4 games this year and we will be picking around 6th and none of that will likely be on the table.

Its not about feeling good. Ward and the young guys have to learn how to win. You dont just show up and it happens. Winning cultures and programs win because they have an understanding of situational football understood across the team. They learn the importance of seconds it takes to execute a play, they learn how to fade the extra two yards on a route to ensure they get out of bounds, and they learn about each other and who is able to make certain plays when needed most.

You guys do not understand the game if yiu think that losing out is a great thing. Yes I'd like the 1st pick because of the talent it could parlay but I also know we have the key to turning all this around on the team right now, and he and the young guys cannot get accustomed to losing and need to experience the grind it takes to win. Anything else is a true loser mentality-- and this fanbase is starting to adopt it by thinking any win is a bad thing. Pathetic

If losing 7 more games breaks cam ward and the rest of the rookies we are in way worse shape than everyone thinks. We can wait 7 weeks before they "learn how to win".

You still see it as a moral concept which tells me I should stop responding because you dont get it.

No, i get what you are saying. And i am saying if us not winning again this season or as close to that as need be sets these guys on a path where they are accustomed to it then they dont have the mental fortitude borgo drafted all of them for.

Borgo drafted a bunch of leaders partially because the team was absolutely devoid of them and he wanted to build a culture of giving it your all every day, not just on sunday. That same mentality should get these guys through being a travisty of a team right now. Its a happy by product of draft all high character guys on a shity team.

Yes, a winning culture must be built. Does that allways lead to wins? Does it have to come at the expense of making the team better? What if they literally are just not good enough right now to win and they are doing everything right to have that winning culture you want them to build?

You are acting like i am the one being to simplistic in my view of whats going on. I see whats going on and I know they are going to be taking their lumps while we retool and I have faith in them that they will get through it all even without a couple ultimately detrimental to the rest of the roster wins this year.

Edit: kinda ironic since I was the pass on ward guy. But hey, his personality makes him the perfect guy for the shitty situation he got drafted into and we are now talking about.
