I am not sure he's missing them as he's holding out too often for the possibility of the bigger play in the read.

I'd prefer if he was just missing them. Holding on for a bigger play with this OL would indicate a level of greed or stupidity that I would find troubling.

I've seen a lot of people talking like Cam is "regressing". I've said it too. But is it true? Regressing from what? He's played a grand total of 4 games as a pro. He's regressing from how supposedly g

yeah, they're right there. It's a mix of issues. Penalty at a bad time. Drop at a bad time. They caught him thinking it was man when they fell back into zone at least once. Had at least 1 or 2 where h

If Cam was in KC right now it wouldn't be like this.  Reid would have recognized the players and scheme limitations and he'd have Cam reeled in already, implemented the KC short passing game (with occasional bombs) and Cam would be playing like his true McNomes self out there!  But nooo, cause Callygump!

Nah-  rookie over confidence-  and his own version of needing to play hero ball.   I expected he likely need to learn the hard way to take what is given and not go for big shots.

He said when he was drafted he wanted the 4 verts in teh playbook. He wants big plays and has that gun slinger mindset.  Its his first 4 games.... he needs to learn.. and guys with that typee of confidence have to learn the hard way.

If that was it, then it wouldn't be a big deal.  But he's using it as a safety net. He isn't trusting the protection or his eyes, so he's buying more time and space.  It can be really hard to break this if it goes to far ( see: Mariota)

I definitely get that but he better be a quicker learner before he ends up like Joe Burrow.

Cam and Mariota are opposites. Mariota was risk adverse. Cam is very comfortable with risk.    Again Cam is rookie.  One of the fun things about guys like Cam is watching and seeing what he is now and then watching him improve... and realizing improvement is measured in seasons not games.
