It was true until it wasn't. Ownership pretty blew him publicly in that puff piece they fed her mere weeks before firing him. Not an indictment on her at all IMO

Apparently she was talking to the wrong people or doing her best to support Vrabel as a favor.

Her report was false and numerous posters ran with it as gospel.

Russini confirmed she reached out to multiple people within the Titans front office for the story and as standard the Athletic require their writers to reach out to all stakeholders mentioned for opportunity to comment or dispute anything, there was none of that

That's why their writing is by far the best, when they publish something, you best believe it's true in all sports

You can't be serious. Clearly things devolved quickly after the piece was written but the reporting was well source and rock solid. Things change quickly in the NFL and Vrabel wasn't an easy person to work with.

Her report implied Vrabel was staying and was false.  As I posted at the time it came out, unless she talked to AAS, her report was meaningless.  And that's exactly how it played out.

She would be heavily reprimanded by the Athletic and her editor would not have allowed the article without AAS directly having the opportunity to review it

If the standard for releasing a story is getting an on the record comment directly from a team owner, then we might as well just flush all of sports journalism. Reporters don't tell the future; they tell the current state of things to the best or their ability based on sources close to a situation.

I think the relationship between Vrabel and ownership/Ran got progressively worse as the season went on.  It was, like all relationships, fluid.

His asinine game plan vs the Texans without a bunch of their starters after the high of the Miami comeback certainly didn't help sell how evolved he was.....

Keep her excuses coming.  Her report was misleading at best.

Exactly, the article went into why in detail including that game

I cannot believe some can't grasp this point

Nah I think she got a good temp on the team, and AAS had enough. Vrabel drew his line, and she drew hers. He forgot that she was the head line drawer.
