tgo
I'd be fine keeping Bowen if Wilson goes elsewhere.

I would too - with the caveat that the rest of the defensive staff should be out outside of Williams if they could get him back

Not to mention Vrabel's scheme mandating the off man coverage stuff with huge cushions.
BudsOilers
Actually I believe the coaches were quoted saying the cushion issue was left to the CB....

Right, which maybe that’s a coaching issue in itself. Overall - The defensive backfield was obsessed with never getting beat over the top and was willing to give a lot up underneath, so I can see why the corners would elect for bigger cushions when possible. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, I’m not sure.

BudsOilers
IDK - I think the philosophy defensively to prioritize eliminating explosives and excelling in the RZ and 3rd down is solid. Where the Titans were really bad was the defensive secondary penalties on 3rd down. They were middle of the pack overall on 3rd down but they were near the top of the NFL in that defensive penalties on 3rd down.

It's true, but they ran man coverage at league average rate (16th), they just got roasted in it But there were so many secondary players that actively got worse, maybe it's not the coaches fault but it isn't encouraging Fulton, Byard, Avery, SMB off the top of my head were all actively worse in 2023 than 2022, and so much of it was technique or flat out bone headed plays on 3rd downs/down the field

I do think it's weird to have Harris coaching the CBs though. He should be Defensive Pass Game Coordinator/Safeties, with someone like DeShea Townsend or Louie Cioffi coaching corners.
