When we talk about the defensive "scheme" what exactly are we talking about? Alignments, formations, philosophies, pressure packages, play calls? All of the above? IMO our formations weren't very different but we certainly seemed to run WAY more twists and stunts up front which is something Landry benefitted from.

Nah man, the scheme was entirely the same.

Well that why I'm trying to clarify. IMO, you can dial up more twist and stunts while keeping the principles of the defensive scheme the same. I feel like we're all taking past each other on this one.

It’s interesting to watch you dig yourself into this hole. You aren’t right about this really at any point.

No.  You are misunderstanding that the team didn't run certain play calls/concepts because the personnel was so awful on all 3 levels of the defense in 2020 when in obvious passing situations.  They simply were unable to do the things they did in 2021.   They didn't change the scheme - they simply went out and got players that were capable of executing it - hence they didn't have to play soft coverage on 3rd and long.......

They didn't scrap the scheme.  They dramatically upgraded the personnel at every level of the defense.  This is undeniable.

I didn’t say they scrapped the scheme. I said they had to run it completely different because if the personnel. The way the scheme was deployed was completely different. Call that what you want, but the play calls and strategy were not similar.

And I'm saying the same thing.  2020 was a result of inferior personnel, not the coaching.  That's why they changed 8 of the 11 starters......and didn't change the DC/play caller.

The personnel DICTATED the play calls and strategy.  The 2020 team could not rush the passer with 4 nor could they play man coverage or play mixed coverage concepts.  The players on the field were not talented nor smart enough.
