Unfortunately, this is the route I’m going to have to take. Dude’s lack of self-awareness and penchant to incorrectly analyze nearly everything on this board is annoying and unreadable.

The truth of the matter is he is probably just a casual fan who (for some strange reason) thinks his opinion is truth/fact/king and anything differing or challenging to that opinion is just wrong.

Hell, he wrote off @FinFaninNOVA as just another “player fan” when dude was slapping him around. Like.. get a clue, dude.

Yes, the FinFan ... is not just another fan LOL ... you guys are hilarious.

I'd add that no, Davenport, isn't some football savant himself.  In fact, he does a pretty meh job when his article requires in-depth analysis.  Just like the article I correctly mocked him on.

They should hire you.

Let's review some of  @big2033 's takes.....

  1. Tannehill is as bad as Mariota prior to the QB switch.  Wrong
  2. The Titans are specifically built around Derrick Henry.  Wrong
  3. The Titans play their style because they hide their QB.  Wrong
  4. Advanced stats/metrics don't matter (even though NGS is the NFL's system and the data is used by all NFL teams) because they don't align with my incorrect personal opinion.
  5. Nobody but NFL personnel can understand the game.

The bottom line is that Tannehill is the most important player on the team and is just as much a star as AJB or Henry.  He's one of the best QB's in the NFL since he's been a Titan.  The other fact is that anyone who watched the games and game film could easily see that the majority of issues on offense were because of poor pass protection and receiver play when AJB, Jones, etc. were out.

My reason for thinking Tannehill could be as bad as Mariota was because ... of the situation he was in and how he was before Tennessee. I wasn't going to speculate further because ... I'm not an expert and don't claim to be.

I don't get ahead of myself. Besides, I'm just a guy on a forum.

But apparently you guys are more.

And Tannehill had a chance to be a star. Instead, you guys gave me excuses and then claimed AJ Brown was the "star" because you couldn't stand to give anything to Henry.

And the Titans were built around Henry once he took over. But when he was down, they sure as shit couldn't shift to Tannehill ... so what are the alternatives?

The idea Mr wishbone looks down on anyone after being destroyed month after month is crazy. The lack of self awareness is amazing.

LOL you forum boys have been living in your own bubble. I do look down ... you live in a fantasy world and are probably expecting some Tannehill MVP votes.

No, you're just consistently wrong as evidenced by the awful takes in this very post.....LOL

I can't be wrong about these things when I'm not trying to be right. I'm just pointing out the fallacy in your arguments.

You guys live on stats that can't be verified and only live to fit your narrative. You think you're scouts. It's always been this way. But really, you're just a bunch of fans who complain when a coach doesn't go for it - like every fan from the beginning of time.

Critique, but don't think you're above the fray because of some insider stats from guys who never played. I know it makes you feel smart but ... it's fantasy.

It doesn't have to be that serious. I'm a fan too, but I never get my head up a players ass. And it always happens with the QB.

Tannehill, is the most tempting one, I get it. But you all have gone next level LOL. Where you've created pages of anti-Henry data because you can't stand the overall narrative. It's downright nuts.

Just for the record, Finfan is literally only here because of Tannehill and takes an absence every time it's not a great game. Good chance that account is related to him or a side piece. The bias is as thick as can be, they just happen to be biased about a good player.

I'd like to see any posts of mine that you can find that states something blatantly wrong or ignores facts without any substantiation. I back up my opinions.

Every poster is biased so the accusation is meaningless in general and hilarious coming from you. Pot meet kettle. The difference is that I realize it and you seem to be oblivious to your own bias.

Just for the record.

Try to take a deep breath and imagine that football is a team game. An effective passing game needs three things (1) a good QB (2) good pass blocking and (3) good receivers. During 2019, all three were in place and Tannehill led the league in passer rating and YPA. That is pretty rare. In 2020. Lewan and Conklin were both gone. I think you can understand that their replacements were not as good. The Titans OL was clearly better at run blocking than pass blocking. Still, Tannehill had an excellent season and finished as a top 5-7 QB.

This season, the OL was in a constant state of flux. Lewan was not very effective early and Quessenberry has been a mess in pass pro. The Titans were ranked 31st in pass protection. For a stretch of games, they were without their first 4 WRs and Henry was gone.

The fact that you cannot give credit to Tannehill for getting the Titans to the #1 seed during this injury plagued season is all the evidence anyone needs to determine that you are just anti-Tannehill. Claiming that the team turned to Brown (ignoring that Tannehill is the QB) is probably the dumbest thing I've read in a long time.

Despite all the challenges, in depth analytics (develop by the NFL itself) put Tannehill at #4 in the league..... and still you persist.... fuck me. @Jamalisms has the nerve to call me biased?? LOL. You don't have to agree with that ranking. But, if you want to completely discount it, you need to back it up with something. Frankly, your "Tannehill is not a star" whining makes you look a teenage girl.

I've read several dozen of your posts and don't recall a single bit of football knowledge or insight.

I'm giving you insight ... we're fans not scouts. It's obvious. You're the equivalent of an anti-vaxxer claiming you did your own research and know what's best for the team.

It's always a team game yes. But more TEAM is needed depending on how good or bad your QB is.

Our QB is good, not great, so we need a lot of pieces for this all to work as a contender.

Whereas teams with great/star QBs can get away with shoddy o-lines and injuries and still at least lead the team to the playoffs. Our offense implodes when we lose our stars ... because our STARS don't play the most important position QB.

During this run Tannehill didn't lead us: It was the defense, backup RBs and ultimately AJ Brown when he returned. Tannehill was ... what he always was, which is good enough.

So yes, it's a team game ... so everyone should understand why Tannehill is viewed in large the way he is (secondary to Henry and AJ Brown and even the defense) despite playing by far the most important position in sports and why our offense is run the way it is.

All that said, this is the most SB worthy team since the last McNair run and Tannehill is good enough to help us win it all.

He's just not the star QB you all make him to be. Which is fine.

WTF does that mean. Up is down. Down is up.

what are you confused about?

you see a read thats defined or higher priority and you go to it despite what your head normally says. Much as how other QBs have described the system.

you see some other reads and depending on defensive positioning  - you elimiate them quicker and dont return to them unless all else fails.

Clearly defined vs as much of a more progression based read system with more options.
