I doubt it. I just think the Steelers developed him and now he wants a payday. Typical Steelers. They turn nobodys into pro bowlers and then let em walk.

He sucked last year

He only allowed 3 sacks and graded out 5 off points higher than the "pro bowler" we have at RG.

His production at left tackle was pretty fucking decent, but obviously not up to par with expectations. They're paying him pennies

Did you watch any of his games or are you just going back and looking at PFF... he’s not sitting free agency out waiting for a big pay day, he’s available because he sucked last season

He sucked and regularly got rag-dolled in the run game. He was serviceable at first but fell off. I appreciate him giving us depth for a while but it was time.

I’d target James Hudson or D’Ante Smith in the 4th or later and Quinton Morris later.  There is only 1 ball and I wouldn’t make TE a priority if we can get a good outside and slot receiver.  I would definitely prioritize WR and slot before TE.  This should be an interesting draft.  I hope we can trade down and add an extra 3rd.  Then we could fill a lot of holes.

Agree a 100% with this. A dynamic slot WR is the one spot I really want to add this off-season. I’ve posted this elsewhere. Our offense has been strictly a running, downfield offense to big outside WR’s, which is great. But we need to open things up more & have more solutions to what defenses show. A shifty, reliable but explosive slot guy would do wonders. A guy who can get quick, easy separation on quick throws, who excels on screens, and also be a safety blanket would do so much for us.

TE at this point just isn’t going to be a strong spot for us this year & we shouldn’t force it. They take too long to develop & frankly the whole “TE revolution” never came about. Sure, if you get the unicorn TE like Kelce or Kittle, or prime Gronk, it’s huge. But that’s only if they can block & catch. Then you have true matchup options where you can lineup in heavier sets & then run or pass based on the defense. If you just have a one dimensional pass catching TE who cares? He’s just going to wind up a slot WR on 3rd down & get treated as such by the defense. If that’s the case, just go with a much more explosive WR in the slot.  Plus, rookie TE’s usually are terrible. If we draft a TE I’d lean towards Tremble whose blocking would probably translate right away, which is rare. And while he isn’t currently a good receiver he’s explosive enough to make some big plays off of scripted stuff to isolate him.

S Malik Hooker...what a shame for that guy. I really liked him coming out, but he's been absolutely devastated by injuries. It's hard to take a risk on someone who's been knocked out all 4 years, but he could be gem if a good team brings him in and he manages to stay healthy all year. Only 25 and showed playmaking skills when healthy.

He was who I wanted to draft in ‘17. Safety isn’t as important as pass rushers & corners but in the case of a true Cover 1 type safety it can be invaluable. There’s so few of them. He’s had a lot of injuries but I also read the Colts mainly play a 2 deep defense, which really doesn’t take advantage of what Hooker does well, which is sideline to sideline range & ball skills. He needs to be a one deep guy. That said, we play basically the exact opposite of a one deep, cover 3 type D.

It’s not going to happen but Mitch Schwartz is the huge risky upside signing here. He’s no spring chicken & coming off back surgery, though he says it’s a minor procedure. But he’s been absolutely dominant with KC & if we sign him & get the ‘19 version, along with Lewan coming back & further improvement from Nate Davis,  we could have an OL that just completely dominates & sets the agenda. I mean, think about how overwhelming last years offense would’ve been with the prior years version of Lewan & Schwartz at the tackle spots......

In the final year of his rookie deal and averaging only 520yds and 3.5 TD's a year since entering the NFL which is nothing special, the Bears would be lucky to get anything more than a 6th or 7th round pick for him.
