Moving on to your next life.  This time you get to pick the kind of world you will be born in.  What kind of world would you choose?

What kind of society would you like to be born in if given a choice before birth?  You pick the next world you would like to born in.  It's all random.  You would be born anywhere in this world you pick, any country, any family and any race.  You have no choice about that, your choice is what kind of world you would want to live in for your future life.  You only choose the world.

Would you want to be born into a world like we live in today on earth?  No choice of country, sex, wealth or race.

Would you want to be born into a world where everybody has the same opportunity to live their dreams no matter where they were born?  No choice of country, sex, wealth or race.

Interesting question.

My choice would be a SECRET society:   a lecherous cabal of billionaire leftist pedophiles who drain the blood from innocent children to snort their adrenalin.

I had pegged you as one of the good guys.

There is no such thing as equal. By virtue of the value of talent, availability of resources, and the context of personal situations it’s not possible.

the best you can do is make things as meritorious as you can and strive to provide equal opportunities whenever and wherever you can. Our system isn’t perfect but it’s a hell of an upgrade on basically every system that came before it.

I understand the desire to make the world a better place but we should be grateful we live in a society where everyone can work hard and do pretty well (even if some are guaranteed to do better than others) instead of destroying that based on a pipe dream that everyone can somehow be equal.

If you were arguing for a return to the economic policy of the 1950's I’d agree with you. But the winner take all version of capitalism we have today is far inferior to what we used to have just a few decades ago. Certainly in terms of economic inequality.

Modern America is closer to corporatism than traditional capitalism, or possibly an oligarchy. But as the oligarchs and corporations are largely intertwined, I’m not sure there is much difference.

Two way matter energy conversion is a true post scarcity economy and a deadly military.

Well, looking at the crazy shit related to today, yeah.  But the storyline is it gets worse before it gets better.  Nuclear war and the aftermath, but then the invention of the replicator, which makes essentials needs available.  The whole idea is that necessary need is no longer an issue, and later material need is no longer an issue as well.  It also means, as a critical default, that money no longer means anything.  Of course, that would be the integral jump.

But yeah, if a moneyless society is what I'd want?  Sure.  I mean, why not?  I see no downsides providing everyone else is onboard.  It's just the concept of things having value is a detriment to this ideal.  Things do have value, but not necessarily monetarily so.  This is the bridge to the Star Trek universe.  Is it possible?  Seemingly unlikely, but as stated, the story is devastation brings it all into fold.

The end ideal is pretty great though.

I’d want to be born into Egyptian royalty. And die oif mad diseases from banging all the bitches.

Go Saudi royalty instead then.  They bang all the bitches but the bitches are STD free due to pre-screening and testing.

Possibly an oligarchy? That's all we have ever been since our country's inception. When the country was founded you couldn't vote unless you were a landowner. You had to be wealthy to even have a voice in the government or to be a politician.
