afc_south_twitter_avatar_normal.jpg@ESPN_afcsouth: CB Tracy Porter has plans to visit #Titans, #Rams.

It's a smart move if he's healthy. He has a lot of versatility and he can be playmaker if healthy. The Titans need to spend some of that money somewhere and Porter can be a dynamic nickelback.

I'm not sure he's that much of an upgrade. I think he's still living off the hype of his interception in the Super Bowl. His only pick last year was on a desperation throw on a 4th and 3 late in the game vs the Lions when they were up 31-17. The last thing I remember him doing is getting his lunch taken by Marshawn Lynch.

Pace of visits for him has been slow, which generally means he has a greatly-inflated opinion of his own worth or there's a medical issue. I'm guessing the latter, since he's a reasonable number two corner and young. I don't know if it's the neck or something else.

Judging a cornerback by their ability to tackle running backs sounds like a page out of the Jeff Fisher book of player evaluation. He would be a solid 2nd/3rd cornerback.

Porter could be a nice pickup, depending on his asking price.

Bad:

-terrible tackler

-frail

-likely to be hurt multiple games a season if he plays full-time.

Good:

-playmaker

-good cover corner w/ experience inside and outside

-short-term memory -- he brings confidence and doesn't dwell on bad plays

He didn't have the INTs last year, but the entire Saints defense stopped forcing turnovers. I personally think Greg Williams has done an terrible job since the Superbowl. The Saints D also blitzed so much that it leaves the CBs alone on an island, often without any S help at all. Last year, Williams switched him over to Nickle half the time which I don't think is his strong suit; he's OK, but he's better on the outside. Some fans think he is poor in coverage; others, like myself, think that he'd look pretty damn good on a normal defense where he isn't hung out to dry so much. Forget about him bringing down the RB ever.

If he came here, I assume he'd take over the outside in the nickle while Verner moves to the slot. With Griffin playing the deep S, Porter might flourish here and provide some turnovers. Then again, he could also take too many risks for Gray's scheme, which relies on solid fundamentals.
