Blazing Saddles

With all the talk of racism everywhere and all over this forum, I was wondering if this movie could be made today? Hell could it even be seen at a theater?  Is it too blunt? Would people be embarrassed that they laughed?

I still think it was brilliant. Maybe laughter would help but I suspect Mel Brooks would be called a racist and his house burnt down.

Funny movie.

Could it be made? Sure. Would it? Maybe not. But Django just came out a few years ago so...?‍♂️

My favorite scene is the one with them talking in the jail introducing each other and drinking.

Art makes fun of social injustice. What is made fun of, and how, changes with time. Just because it wouldn't be the exact same issues or the exact same delivery does not mean anything has really changed in entertainment.

The same question will be asked of today's comedy and the answer will be the same.

Far more important than an understanding that entertainment changes (the idea it should remain the same is terrifying), a clip.

Tough for some to get that its blatant racism was a stand against racism.
