Modly was a veteran who became a political science professor. Good call putting him in charge of the Navy.

He also only served for 7 years. Hes not a lifer. Honestly I dont see how he survives after yesterday. The complete lack leadership he showed was mind boggling.

There’s never been a more anti military president/administration in the history of the country.

Yet he continue to repeat the lie that the military was out of ammunition when he took office. What simpleton would believe the military would be out of ammunition?

Crap, did these bozo's lose the ability to think logically on election night??? Then again, maybe they've never been able to think for themselves...

Trump doesn’t hate the military, imo, but he certainly doesn’t respect them or their leadership, “I know more than the generals, I defeated ISIS”, etc,...Trump strictly sees them as yet another tool to prop up his ego and his presidency with his base.

I guess WTF! sailor was right:

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday, a day after leaked audio revealed he called the ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt "stupid" in an address to the ship's crew, according to a US official and a former senior military official.

Anybody mention yet what exactly Teddy Roosevelt did when he brought home and quarantined 20000 soldiers after the war when others wanted them to wait it out? How he saved lives and was praised? He became a legend for his outspokenness and dedication to his troops lives.

How  ironic is that? That this ship, the Theodore Roosevelt, is dealing with a similar issue. Except...

.... Modern day republicans like @thorare fine with fucking over soldiers as long as Trump and his team says it’s ok.

Weird world we live in. Republicans don’t even care about the military anymore.

One thing I'm confused about.  Did Captain Crozier 1st attempt to go through the normal chain of command with his concerns? Then, send the letter to a number of folks because his superiors didn't respond?  I mean, did they initially tell him to suck it up & stay out to sea?  Was the sending of the letter Captain Crozier's first action?

I don't see a lot of feedback on this

Wow. I hope the investigation into this is shared with the public.

The Navy has recommended reinstating Capt. Brett Crozier as commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, according to reports, in a move that would be unprecedented. The recommendation was first reported by The New York Times and shortly after was reported by several other outlets as well.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday and acting Navy Secretary James McPherson made the recommendation to Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Friday when briefing him about the results of the investigation into the coronavirus outbreak aboard the aircraft carrier, according to the Times.

Esper asked for more time to consider whether to reinstate Crozier, the Times added. In a statement Friday afternoon, chief Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said Esper is awaiting a written copy of the investigation to make a decision.

“This afternoon, Secretary Esper received a verbal update from the acting secretary of the Navy and the chief of naval operations on the Navy’s preliminary inquiry into the COVID-19 outbreak on the USS Theodore Roosevelt," Hoffman said.

"After the secretary receives a written copy of the completed inquiry, he intends to thoroughly review the report and will meet again with Navy leadership to discuss next steps. He remains focused on and committed to restoring the full health of the crew and getting the ship at sea again soon.”
