Denali
I think all Oilers fans have been permanently scarred by gut-wrenching disappointment. The MCM took off some of the sting, but the scars still remain. As the saying goes, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. We march on, and we march proud. CJ2K? Realistically, I doubt it. Optimistically, one can always hope. Getting DeCastro (even trading up for him if necessary) could certainly help.
Jas
We can only hope that CJ was embarrassed at his performance last year and is serious about working hard this off season and starts out next year running hard.
Eighteen
Trading up for a guard... lol
Denali
Trading up for a guard... lol I think DeCastro is going to be the real deal. And since the M&M boys were guards themselves, I would think they are eyeing DeCastro. Munch and Matthews were both high first round picks and look at how they turned out. I admit, I got my hopes set on DeCastro before his stock rose as a result of the combine, so that's why I mentioned trading up
Eighteen
You don't trade up for a guard and lose picks regardless of how talented they may be. You can get a more than serviceable guy in the 2nd or 3rd round if you need one badly and the top 1-2 prospect doesn't make to you in the first. It's just not a highly valued position in the draft. TampaTitan
Just ran into CJ at a club called Dragon Room in Orlando. Slapped hands with him, etc, but he wouldn't take any pictures. Made my night, been waiting to run into him for the longest out here.

Munchak was the #8 pick in the 1982 draft. Matthews was the #9 pick in the 1983 draft. If I were to go thru draft histories, I would imagine there are other examples of guards that were taken high up in the first round. I don't agree with a blanket statement that the position is not highly valued. I'd rather have someone like Munch or Matthews than someone "servicable". I'm not following your reasoning here. Nash
because with the way the game is currently played, you draft early QB, LOT, pass rusher (including DE/DT/OLB in 3-4).. I'm not even sure you draft cb early anymore, much less interior linemen, you might draft a wr early if the value was there( julio jones and AJ Green for example)
Guest
CJ actually has the ability to run for 2000 yards again, him and McFadden are the only two Rbs I think can do it in the future. Chris does deserve some of the blame but not the majority, it should go to the interior OL and Palmers lack of creativity for our running plays, they all seemed pretty repetitive. I like the signing of CJ not only because he can produce at a high level, hes shown that he can, but they'll be playing his highlights decades from now. There is so much that is off in this post. For starters, it's the same damn line minus Mawae which doesn't really matter since he was total garbage when CJ ran for 2000. Secondly, the run game stayed the same. MuncOhak said in preseason that it would not change under Palmer. Don't forget Munch had been in charge of the run game under Dinger the past few years. Finally, CJ was absolutely horrible in space most of the year. He was routinely taken down in the open field by the first defender on the scene. The interior OL is weak but CJ was without a doubt the main culprit in the struggles of the running game in 2011
Jamalisms
The same line ages and changes as well, right? I don't know why that gets referenced quite so much.

TampaTitan
Serious question - Did you show him your back tat? Lol, nah, although my best friend who was with me said I should have in an effort to prove my worthiness of a picture. If I were drunker, and had more time I probably would have, it was a pretty swift exchange though.

OTOH, VY would probably be all over it.
