It's rather simple, has nothing to do with the Titans specifically, and there have to be arguments against it - so lets hear 'em - but I'm just thinking that supply and demand suggest this is not a good time to buy... too many teams have the cap space. It will drive up contracts big time. The only thing I can think is that the demand curve has shifted due to teams trying to get to minimum and rookie contracts being cheaper, etc.... but maybe, just maybe, the simple preponderance of FAs this year will keep prices down...? In 2013 teams will begin to have salary minimums and teams will be forced to spend. It would be easy to imagine a number of teams being more aggressive when theyre mandated to and 2013 will be the first year in transition where teams will actually have a larger balance of cap space. ctm Posted February 15, 2012 Report Share Posted February 15, 2012 I thought there were going to be over 600 free agents this year due to some guys not making FA last year because of the CBA. That means a very high supply. The cap is the same as last year. That's low demand. Looks like high supply and low demand this year. Perfect year to buy. There are going to be some bargins. I think teams will be working to get spending up this year. No reason try and get all the way to the min next year. Gotta spread it out. Rookies being cheaper definitely opens up for high end veterans. No idea what the end result will be, but I do think last year's contracts generally indicated a rise too. I don't see why any given year should necessarily be considered "the year to avoid fa". Or in other words, Mario Williams needs to be a Titan come March. One of the big reasons Favre and management didn't get along at the end was them not getting Moss when Brett thought he was God and demanded it. At first, teams will be willing to hand out crazy deals to big time free agents and some teams are going to end up paying for the mistake for years to come. However, because of the enourmous amount of players available this year, there should be some nice bargains on the second and third tier players. You guys have no idea how bad it gets come draft time when the Packers have 85 picks and don't package them to trade up and get that "must have" guy. Between that and the close losses... the fan base here is lucky they didn't get what they wanted or Thompson and McCarthy would have been gone before the run started in 2010. Other than Woodson, no one else really comes to mind He's done a pretty good job obviously: Hits: Rodgers Jennings Nelson Finley Raji Matthews Collins etc Misses: Brohm (2nd round- 08) Pat Lee (2nd round-08) Terrence Murphy (2nd round-05) Justin Harrell (1st round- 07) Brandon Jackson (2nd round-09) Mike Neal (early, but it's looking that way) We'll see about Sherrod Hawk is ok, but not anywhere near worth the #5 pick where he was drafted Just goes to show you even the best GM in the league have their share of misses Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
