NashvilleNinja
quittsburghstoolers says:Feb 7, 2012 3:58 PM Locker’s on pace to be the starter for good sometime in 2012. Bringing in Manning (if healthy) pushes Locker back at least 2 more seasons. If Tennessee was only a QB away from being in the next Super Bowl then maybe they do it. But they have a few more holes to fill and using most of their available cap space on a QB makes little sense… Perfect response. No bullshit, just facts. T-RAC
1. Webster said the only thing he could say on that call. We wouldn't get the vaguest statement of interest about Manning from Webster unless a deal was done. 2. There's only maybe 4-5 teams in the NFL that aren't interested in Manning. The Titans would be interested if he was healthy and wanted to come here. 3. Despite this the chances of Manning coming to the Titans are still slim. ONUV
i thought bud adams wanted to win now? the QBs on our roster don't give us that chance near as much as manning does.
nine
I'm sure the Titans aren't the only team that will be forced to acknowledge and address this issue; I would imagine any team with QB issues will end up getting similar pressure from their respective fan bases. Of course, the problem is that, with Manning still being under contract, any talk of a team acquiring him is an invitation to tampering charges. Webster did an excellent job of walking the tightrope, making the team's position very clear without making any direct reference to Peyton himself. But after the Super Bowl hype winds down, the whole Peyton saga will almost certain be front-and-center once again......and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if more than one team finds itself in hot water before it's finally settled. titanruss
Im having a real hard time understanding how you people dont get that manning regressed significantly the last time he played, right now has zero throwing arm, has not played football in a year, is older than dirt for a football player, would be changing offenses, playing with different receivers, has zero willingness to mentor, would set our team progression back until he retires, would create a media frenzy, and he could give a crap about the state of tennesse.... for all the vol homers out there... let that sink in. he gives 2 shits about the state of tennessee or the titans. he used your beloved almamater like a drugged up dirty stripper uses the pole to get off and make the most money possible after her dance. he would have went to florida if they had the receiver situation the vols did. that may hurt you to hear but as far as anyone who isnt blinded by infatuation is concerned, hes still the same asshole who sticks his ass on an unassuming trainer girls face and causes boyscout troops in the midwest to be in debt for the next 40 years. the f.o. said he isnt coming here, the coaches said he isnt coming here, and anyone with half a brain realizes he only hurts the valuable playing time of our future face of the franchise... in fact manning himself said how valuable his early playing time was... so if he wanted to come here it is already with selfish intentions and he could care less about the future of this team or leaving a legacy.... not to mention by all closed door and non mainstream media accounts the guy is a grade a asshole and it is showing only more this past week. go be a manning fan somewhere else. T-RAC
30 out of 32 NFL teams are a QB away from being in the next Superbowl when you get right down to it. 99% of the football fans in Tennessee have no ability to be objective about Peyton Manning. Either they're jaded by years of losing to him and they'll take every opportunity to poop on him or else they're Vol fans that can't let go of his UT years. But for the record, he is still involved in the community around Knoxville. He raises money for the children's hospital and other charities there. And he has a house and in-laws in Chattanooga. I'm not lobbying to get him here because of the iffiness surrounding his arm strength. But if that comes back, the other issues mentioned in this thread are laughably weak reasons not to go after him.
titanruss
was there anyone actually arguing that he should come here? yes, a few ... like the above. but that was more a rant on the dumbasses calling the radio and starting websites about it. for the record, i never liked manning when he was at UT either. he was a control freak choker then too... only worse now and hes developed an ability to throw teammates under the bus with little repricussions.
