Mariota is a better QB than McNair was at this stage of their careers. That doesn't mean Marcus will ever be as good as Steve eventually became, but early on McNair couldn't read a defense to save his life. They ran the hell out of Eddie and basically told Steve to just not turn it over...which is why Wycheck was consistently their leading receiver.

McNair played for Jeff Fisher nearly his entire career.  Let that sink in.

VY is my favorite QB. I think had he got a better coach instead of fisher who didn’t cater to his strengths we could’ve gone far with him. I know I’ll get killed for that opinion

This explains a lot about Xander and why you should just discount his BS posts.

Because he didn't care about the Titans. When Young was here, there were camera shots of him and VY laughing it up on the sidelines while we were getting our ass beat. He was supposed to mentor VY (he couldn't pass himself, I don't know how they expected that to work), but he never did anything for him. There are ither things that happened too, but no sense in stirring shit up. He's gone and it's a new era.

He was a jerk for laughing with VY on the sidelines? But they never played together. I don't care if you like the guy or even think he's a jerk, I just never heard anyone think he's a jerk and I'm curious why

There's a reason they called it "Dare McNair".

I loved Steve, but it took him a while to develop.

Yeah, this. For me I didn't have faith in McNair until that game when he came off the bench for an injured Neil O'Donnell. Forgot who they were playing (Bengals maybe?). I liked McNair but was on the fence about him being the franchise QB, and he sealed that game and pretty much never looked back.

When on earth did the Titans keep McNair around to mentor VY?

It was all about him, not us.

This is a pretty dumb take. The guy sacrificed his body each and every week to will this team to win.

McNair took a long time to develop, and was personally very flawed, but you are re-inventing history here and it's bullshit

He's literally inventing history too! Not just having a completely biased take on what happened

Forget it, he's rolling.

And even if this wasn't total made up bullshit, the whole idea that aging veterans are supposed to mentor the young guys coming in to take their place is overblown. Some guys have done that, plenty have not. When you are an aging player and still think you have good years left, it's bullshit to be beat up over not mentoring the guy coming to take your job. And it is overblown from the other side. Young players follow strength and production, not wise, aging veterans. The idea old washed up guys can be leaders in the locker room is largely a myth. These are alphas and when you don't have it anymore and players know it, largely you can take your rah rah shit and shove it up your ass. That's just how most of these guys are wired.

So other than making up something that never happened, and that was based on a bullshit premise anyway, nice work Joe.

The only real way to do this is by percentages.

Int % td% completion% ypa/ypc. 3rd down %...

find those... find the league averages for each time period... project what McNair’s/ vys #s would be in today’s game. The.n compare to Marcus.

Then you can see

It's your lucky day. Im off today and bored as hell. Give me a hour and you will have it.
