Couple of times Mariota was holding onto the ball too long, and there was at least one time Corey Davis was open on the cross and he didn't hit him. But clearly you can see the Baltimore D-line is legit and our O-line got handled. Also Lafleur calling these long developing plays when the O-line is playing like this is puzzling. ap24786
Went to the Ravens forum and they're all talking about how a lot of those sacks were coverage sacks and how their D completely shut our receivers down. Said they felt bad for Mariota in all honestly and the Titans have no WRs.

StephenIsLegend
Yesterday was just a complete shit show. Just two weeks removed from one of the best performances we’ve seen from the team. Such is the life of a Titans fan. *shrug*
Alcibiades
I've been saying since preseason that our interior OL is awful. I was told that Spain and Kline and the lot were great, and I was being stupid. I don't usually bother with 'told you so' but damn, this interior OL is pathetic. JUST awful. Our tackles aren't playing up to their paychecks, but the interior is nuts. 11 sacks??? 11??? Is that some sort of record?

They did show it a few times. Our guys weren't open in man coverage. OTOH, Mariota has to take some chances and get it in there. Can't just dance around and take a sack. Hard game to watch. I still think if he connects with Taylor, it's a different game. Confidence builds, score is different...and so on. Oh, and Henry should be the RB more in the game, and why didn't we try more screen plays?
Face
PFF said the OL was awful. Let's be honest, it's not like Mariota is David Carr. When there's 11 effin sacks, its mostly on the line.

It goes well beyond any single player or issue. I don't even know what to say. This was shocking. Worst game I witnessed in 20 years of being a season ticket holder. I actually got on chat at the game because I was bored. I left the game early which I NEVER do. I'm putting a lot of the responsibility directly on the coaches for this one, although no player had what I would call an acceptable performance. And it's pretty obvious that the personnel is good with two All pro type tackles and interior OL who were above average the last two years. But now they're all garbage? What does this tell us? tgo
To clarify, some of those sacks were obviously on Marcus for getting out of the pocket and putting himself directly in harm's way. But why is that? Why is it that the guy we saw stepping up in the pocket and delivering footballs precisely in philly looked like a scared shitless deer in the headlights scrambling around out there? Philly's front is designed for maximum pressure. Yes, Baltimore defense is really good - that's a factor. Yes the OL didn't play as well. But that's obviously not the whole picture. What about Vrabel harping all week about Mariota "extending plays more" and running him through RB drills in practice instead of QB drills? Do we think maybe that at very least played a factor in him completely changing stylistically this week?
tgo
I will say this: Mike Vrabel, Matt LaFleur, and Keith Carter have a lot to answer for with that garbage gameplan and the shitshow of an abortion of an offensive showing. At least Vrabel admitted it though - they got out-coached in every facet. This personnel is too good to be looking like this. They're under-performing their talent level, and what does that tell you? Or maybe Mularkey had the group playing above their talent level?

The announcers did highlight it on half of those sacks. And yes there's no way to know without seeing an all-22 view but aside from a couple of those sacks where he should have gotten the ball out, he was getting heavily pressured and hurried within 2.5 seconds. You're asking our young receivers to get open on already slow developing routes against this elite D in less than 2.5 seconds. Also, MM has a lot of issues such as footwork but before the Buffalo game when was taking a lot of sacks one of them? It's more likely that there's absolutely nothing there and he didn't wanna take any risks.
Pragidealist
The simplest answer is the team is what we've seen. A weak oline, particularly the interior, with receivers that tend to get blanketed. MM response to that in previous games were to run through his reads quickly and then make something happen with his feet. This game the interior penetration was horrendous, causing him to bail much sooner and when he did their defense was waiting for him. MM has willed us to some wins this season- against a good, well prepared defense that cant happen. I don't know what any qb does in that setting except take hits and throw a lot of balls away. We saw the same show when Gabbert started against Jax. He was bailing quickly and throwing it away quickly. Then MM came in and was able to make magic happen just enough with his feet to get the win. Against the Ravens, behind 3 scores- MM couldn't do it. They knew what we had and were waiting everytime. This team is going nowhere with this oline and Wr play.
