titanruss
27 minutes ago, WG53 said: Biggest vs biggest is like 800 vs 1100. the wikipedia articles say the largest grizzlies get to 10 ft and 1500 lbs...in the video earlier the guy says the get to regularly around 11-12 ft tall on the coast. ... the problem is that most of the records are hunting stories, theres records of a bear weighing 2200 lbs (conveniently a ton) in california... and most hunting records now score bear sizes based on skull.. so the current record is a 28" long skull. thats fucking huge. also from wiki: "The tallest gorilla recorded was a 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in) silverback with an arm span of 2.7 m (8 ft 10 in), a chest of 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in), and a weight of 219 kg (483 lb), shot in Alimbongo, northern Kivu in May 1938. The heaviest gorilla recorded was a 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in) silverback shot in Ambam, Cameroon, which weighed 267 kilograms (589 lb).[20]Males in captivity are noted to be capable of reaching weights up to 275 kg (606 lb)." bear still wins because he's double in weight and possibly height... even with the unfair advantage we give the gorilla. we allow all species of gorilla to be compared to 1 species of bear. OzTitan
The claws would obviously shred a gorilla to death pretty quickly so the gorilla's only hope is to still be alive as it gets in very close and snap the bear's neck or crush its skull in. Maybe it can do that, I dunno.
titanruss
imagine a 6'5 gorilla walking through the door with a 2 meter circumference chest. fuck thats scary.... now imagine something nearly 2x as tall and 3x as heavy. i think people get more freaked out by gorilla demeanor. and we credit them with being able to do things like headlocks and choking and shit... but thats just what we've seen in the movies. i cant wait until we can clone animals purely for fighting. Nope. Credible reports put largest at 10 ft. There are reports of 12 but not verified. And silverbacks can get much larger than 483.
