In fact I've said it twice on this thread. I've never seen any real engineer doing any type of complicated math use ÷ instead of writing it as a fraction. Call it bullshit all you want but maybe you're just a software guy that doesn't really deal with any type of complex math formulas. In fact this sign ÷ is really just a fraction where the numerator and denominator are missing. It's primarily used by people who aren't good with fractions.
