Denali
Amano would count 4 mill + on the 2012 cap if they cut him. Assuming Velasco takes the RG spot that leaves a gaping hole at center. That creates another hole on a bad team. You'd either have to spend a decent draft pick and rely on a rookie or sign a free agent center and spend resources on a position already counting 4 mill plus. I almost wish the Titans would replace their entire interior OL and keep CJ just to laugh all through 2012 at people but that ain't happening. Interesting stat to consider regarding the Titans OL: They had the third fewest false start penalties in the league this year. http://www.footballd...es.html?sort=fs
OILERMAN
Were the Titans blown off the field against NO? No although they did get a big lead. That game was marred with penalties and the game close because the Saints were constantly in 3rd and long. Give me a break, the Titans are no match for the Saints and could beat the Titans like a drum about every time if they kept playing each other. This is your big defense to the Titans this season, they didn't get blown out by the Saints at home?
Tim
The 13-3 Titans team with Collins was probably the worst 13-3 team I've seen in 35 years of watching football.
Tim
I never actually said the Titans were not close to beating the Saints, quote that statement for me. I even said Locker made the games closer. Hell if they started Locker maybe they even win that game. The point is, against the top teams the Titans were blown off the field, and they were. You are reaching Oman , really bad. I liked Jeff too, he isn't coming back. Munch did a solid job this year.

Amano has 3 years left of amoritization on a 7.25M signing bonus. That's 4.35M against the cap if he's cut. If he's kept, he has a 3.18M base plus 1.45M signing bonus amoritization of his signing bonus for a total cap hit of 4.63M.
Titanjuicy
The 13-3 Titans team with Collins was probably the worst 13-3 team I've seen in 35 years of watching football. 2008 Titans were second in the league in scoring defense. 7th in yardage, 6th against the run. White and CJ combined to rush for over 2100 yards. They were a White and Crumpler fumble from blowing the Ravens out in the playoffs.....not to mention CJ missed the entire second half. In other words, I wouldn't say worst.

pat
Mostly agree, but disagree that big play is what the Titans need. Ever since we focussed on the big play this team has been streaky and unreliable. We need to be much sharper underneath with the simple stuff. That's our 2m offense, that's our 3rd down conversions. Our offense can score but can't control, and that's been the weakness of the Titans for the last five or so years.
Jonboy
I'll be the first to say the defense wasn't spectacular, but I thought they played Brees to perfection. Their best game of the year by far. Yeah, he had a ton of yards...but that's how you stop a team like that. Bend but don't break. Titans offense had 2 chances to win the game and couldn't do it. Can't fault the defense for that. Everyone's all doom and gloom, but I believe this team is VERY close to being a great team. The two big pieces we need are an elite pass rusher and another offensive weapon for Locker. Nate Washington is a legit #2 receiver at this point and we know Britt is a #1 if he can stay healthy...but we all know he's struggled to do that. That's why I think they have to draft another WR early. Hopefully Britt, the rookie and Nate pan out in 2012. Oilerman has posted before...it really all hinges on Jake Locker. A great QB can cover up a lot of other weaknesses. In my personal opinion, the biggest offseason move we can make is to say Jake is our guy going forward. We've got a whole offseason to discuss all these issues, but Locker, Ayers, McCarthy, Casey, and Klug give me hope for the future of this team. My fear is they lose 3/5th's of their secondary to go with the holes we already have.

Three things have to happen for us to take the next step and becoming a SB contender: 1. Locker becomes Franchise QB 2. Improved pass rush 3. Improved interior OL
