9 Nines
White House legal counsel had to threaten to quit to talk President Trump down from the the fire-Mueller ledge. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/25/us/politics/trump-mueller-special-counsel-russia.html By Michael S. Schmidt and Maggie Haberman Jan. 25, 2018 WASHINGTON — President Trump ordered the firing last June of Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive. Starkiller
Is anyone really surprised that he would try to fire Mueller the way he fired Comey? He is in serious coverup mode and knows that all he can do is try to keep them from investigating. I guess he is worried that his lawyers know too much. The whole tough guy routine really gets to me. This guy is a straight puss. He campaigned to rednecks, talking about punching people and how he is a fighter and all. They bought it hook, line and sinker, but I would have expected rednecks to be pretty good at sniffing out tough guy bullshit but I guess if there is one thing that Don can do is, Don can Con. He can handle that. Money laundering is serious. They put you in jail and take your assets for that. The key point here is that in order to prove obstruction of justice, one of the elements is criminal intent. Wanting to fire Mueller is just one more point of proof of intent to obstruct. Starkiller
There is another interesting bit of timing that goes along with this. Trump tried to fire Mueller in June. That is exactly when the GOP abruptly switched from praising Mueller to attacking him. It’s not a coincidence. I don’t know if the right got their orders from Trump or if all the blowhards on Fox convinced Trump that he should fire Mueller. It’s hard to tell because they didn’t specify when in June this happened. Look no further than Newt, who was one of the first to publicly about face on Mueller in June. But that laundering could tie to Russia, which gives Russia a reason to help Trump get in power.
Justafan
It's just sad to see how broken the GOP has become trying to defend Trump. So many have been exposed as cowards who care more about their agenda than fulfilling the oath of their office.

It’s hard to tell because they didn’t specify when in June this happened. Look no further than Newt, who was one of the first to publicly about face on Mueller in June. I think the reality of the situation started to set in and caused the sudden outrage. This was the same time that, as Newt mentions, we saw Mueller hire a star-studded lineup of prosecutors containing experts in quite a number of different aspects of law. This certainly signaled to Trumpists that this thing was no joke and would likely move beyond the initial scope of investigation (a la Starr with Clinton). That said, Rosenstein dictated that the counsel was allowed to investigate anything that turned up, within the initial scope or not, throughout the course of the primary investigation. Anyone even vaguely familiar with Trump's past with organized crime, Russians, and pretty damn obvious money laundering had to have immediately realized, "oh shit....he's fucked". I think this is why we saw the machine ramp up. It only takes a few voices to start the kickback. I think it's certainly an organized strategy at this point but I think the June '17 reaction was spontaneous.
Mythos27
The GOP's turn on Mueller is pretty easy to explain. They saw that a life-long Republican was appointed and hurried to say he was a good and fair man so that when he eventually cleared Trump, no one could call his credibility into question. They expected Mueller to be a partisan hack (like they are). When they saw that Mueller was conducting a legitimate investigation and Trump wasn't going to be given a pass, they had to back-track and try to tarnish the guy so that people would dismiss the devastating stuff Mueller would uncover and make public. Too bad only the retards in his base are falling for the smear job. The rest of us see it for what it is, mice on a trap struggling to get free.
