Remember when VY lost his mind at a strip club just because someone flashed him an upside down hook em horns gesture?

LOL

Right. What a dumb ass.

Jeez, I wish all of the archives from the old boards were still around during VY's first three years. You homers were knob gobbling his DNA like it was Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill. Then the white version came and y'all were even more giddy (go figure). Now The Pineapple Chunkin High Yellow is here and it's down on your knees again. September will be here before you know it. The Football Gods will say FUCK YOU again and I will be right here to remind you of it.

We'd rather have a good QB...

Wins are a team stat. The team, outside of VY, was pretty damned good. He got credit for wins but he wasn't generally the cause. His individual stats are what define him as an individual player.

VY made plenty of big plays with his legs as a rookie. But after his rookie season teams figured out all he could do well was run.

I'd rather have that Tennessee Tyrants defense and a thirsty Chris Johnson.

VY didn't learn the pro game, didn't train hard, and washed out.

When the stats contribute to wins then they matter.

Lets take a look at the 2007 season, the one the few remaining VY fans cling to as the proof that he "just wins". Here are the winning games:

Game 1 Ten vs Jax 13-10
Passing: 11/18, 78 yards, 4.3 yards per pass, 0 TD, 47.9 Passer rating
Rushing: 11 attempts, 22 yards, 1 TD
Turnovers: 1 INT, 1 Fumble

Game 3 Ten vs NO 31-14
Passing: 14/22, 164 yards, 7.5 yards per pass, 2 TD, 97.5 Passer rating
Rushing: 5 attempts, 21 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 1 INT, 1 Fumble

Game 5 Ten vs Atl 20-13
Passing: 20/33, 157 yards, 4.8 yards per pass, 0 TD, 34.5 Passer rating
Rushing: 8 attempts, 27 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 3 INT, 0 Fumble

Game 7 Ten vs Hou 38-36
-No stats, didn't play.

Game 8 Ten vs Oak 13-9
Passing: 6/14, 42 yards, 3.0 yards per pass, 0 TD, 50.3 Passer rating
Rushing: 7 attempts, 11 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 0 INT, 1 Fumble

Game 9 Ten vs Car 20-7
Passing: 14/23, 110 yards, 4.8 yards per pass, 0 TD, 36.5 Passer rating
Rushing: 8 attempts, 25 yards, 1 TD
Turnovers: 2 INT, 0 Fumble

Game 13 Ten vs Hou 28-20
Passing: 21/31, 248 yards, 8.0 yards per pass, 2 TD, 99.9 Passer rating
Rushing: 5 attempts, 44 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 1 INT, 1 Fumble

Game 15 Ten vs KC 26-17
Passing: 16/26, 191 yards, 7.3 yards per pass, 2 TD, 109.6 Passer rating
Rushing: 7 attempts, 32 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 0 INT, 0 Fumble

Game 16 Ten vs NYJ 10-6
Passing: 12/22, 166 yards, 7.5 yards per pass, 0 TD, 47.9 Passer rating
Rushing: 7 attempts, 1 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 1 INT, 3 Fumble

Game 17 Ten vs Ind 16-10
Passing: 14/18, 157 yards, 8.7 yards per pass, 0 TD, 103 Passer rating
Rushing: 4 attempts, 19 yards, 0 TD
Turnovers: 0 INT, 0 Fumble

-Indy pulled their starters in this game.

================

Look at those and tell me he contributed to those wins. I see 4 games he had a good QB rating, only one of those did he throw for more than 200 yards.

How can you give him credit for wins where:
-He throws for 78 yards, 47.9 rating
-Passes for 157 yards with 3 interceptions, 34.5 rating
-42 yards passing, 34.5 rating
-110 yards, 2 interceptions, 36.5 rating
-166 yards, 1 interception, 3 fumbles, 47.9 rating

2007 average during wins
164 passing yards per game, 25 rushing, 1 TD per game, 1.125 interceptions per game (9), .875 fumbles per game (7)

You do not contribute to wins when you throw 3 interceptions and score 0 touchdowns.

We were not a passing team back in the day. We had Jeff Fisher as head coach.

McNair won an MVP throwing the ball under Fisher.

They weren't a passing team during the VY era because VY was a shitty passer. Even in McNair's early Oiler days where it was a run heavy offense he threw more passes than VY was allowed to.

We're not a passing team now either, but Mariota excels.

Vince's style was different but he gave us the best offense at the time. It wasn't always his arm, and he could be clutch at times on game winning drives. KFC had better stats, but also more attempts. But with CJ he couldn't push the offense and never was more than a game manager, although he did have some good games at that.

I'm not saying Vince was Tom Brady. I'm just saying while we were building a franchise, he wasn't the weak link. We could've handled the whole situation better.

This is one of those old VY myths that was debunked years ago.

He trusted McNair.

Our best QB to date vs. an up and coming QB. Mobile QB to an NFL system. McNair was more of a passer who was just physically gifted. He could run over linebackers and also had the touch to make tough passes. There's few QB's like him.

I'm not comparing Vince to greats. I'm saying he wasn't the issue at the time when everything collapsed. His style was different, but things worked out a lot of times. In 2008 our defense was just unreal. Haynesworth had a HOF year. Never seen anybody play like that from the DT position.

McNair earned Fisher's trust, but early on in his career he had to prove himself. VY never earned that trust because VY sucked as a passer.

And yes, VY was the biggest problem with the team when he was the QB.

The same 4-12 and 5-11 defense socks...first year 8-4 to finish 8-8 after the 0-4 start...Next year 9-7 and playoffs...

Then he got hurt in the first game the next year and they went 13-3. VY played in the last game that season and was embarrassingly bad
