oldschool
Now preds fans know what is so frustrating about facing the pens. They can be dominated for huge stretches and still find a way to make the one play they need to win. 37 mins without a shot and they get a goal on the 1st attempt in 2 periods? Fucking pens. heyitsmeallen
Nashville got ripped off in the first when they goal was disallowed. They played a solid game with a whole 1 minute of bad defense that led to 5 fast goals.

Except offsides are usually called immediately not at review. It was razor close, and that offsides, while yes--technically a rule infraction--by no means was what the rule was intended to enforce or affected the outcome of the game. Call it or don't. To your point this was classic Penguins, every call, every bit of luck and bullshit went their way. Another game the Pens had their ass handed to them and yet somehow walked away with a W. It sucks. The officiating early was so rough to deal with. We get hammered for the offsides, get stuck with the 5-3, and the Croz has his interference non-called? It's bullshit. The offsides didn't spark the play. Offsides like that go constantly in hockey. It's something that is ticker-tape, and honestly that offsides is up for review itself is garbage. You the idea that the call that was made tonight was enforcing the spirit of the rule is horseshit. They stole one on a technicality--that the refs choose to see that as "conclusive" but non-called the Crosby interference is absolutely relevant. The league opened up offsides for review and the preds got caught. It was the right call whether you like it or not and it was clearly "conclusive". Also if you don't understand how gaining the zone with the puck sparks everything then you don't understand hockey. Same thing I said to Allen, don't be that guy who can't be honest about a call. When they reviewed it, that was a call to make, and they made it. The issues I take with the entire circumstance still stand. They opened up offsides for review, yes. What I'm saying is that call was not the type of offsides that rule was designed to prevent and you are insane if you think you can legitimately break down the play and argue how the ghost of Forsberg's skate being a half-inch off the ice should have determined that call. It's fucking didn't. As a fan, regardless of whether or not it was a "good" call--it sucks to see. And to see that followed by a non-call on a blatant interference when the Pens had a 5-3 is even more shitty.

You should be bitching about the stupid Neal cross check that gave the Pens a 5 on 3 and Rinne for giving up two very soft goals. Ultimately that's what cost the preds the game. I'm mad about the fluky nature of the game. I don't totally blame the refs, but FUCK every break went the Penguins way. It's one of the most frustrating games I've seen in sports--we hold them 37 minutes without a shot and the first one they get goes in. As a fan, how do you not look at the calls you've seen never been a factor become an indictment on your series? If you are defending these calls and trying to prop them up, how do you not acknowledge the Crosby non-call during a five on fucking three? Come on dude, the curmudgeon stick is tiresome. I get the Preds fucked up at times. Doesn't wipe away the fluky nature of the game. Doesn't make that exchange any more difficult to swallow as a fan. wiscotitansfan
It was offsides and those reviews/challenges are CONSTANTLY overturned in that exact scenario. As someone said, don't be that guy thinking a rule not going your way is something bigger than that. My guess is monthly probably there are challenges where the offsides occurred well before the goal and just like the rule says and should say, the goal is reversed. It sucks but that's all it is, just a thing to pull your hair over not something to bitch about and use as a rally cry how the other team has everything go their way (I'm not talking about just puck luck) while the league is against the Preds. As an Islanders fan, I don't hate the Penguins nearly as much as I hate the Rangers and Caps! Hating the Rangers is obvious, but what Dale Hunter did to Pierre Turgeon in '93 was criminal. That 21-game suspension was a slap on the wrist IMHO, he should have been banned from the NHL.
IsntLifeFunny
The offsides was the right call, but it definitely turned the game on us. The non-call on Crosby was straight bullshit. Rinne was fucking awful, and it was obvious we are missing Johansson really badly with how many passes kept flying through middle only for no one to be there. If we are going to win the series then they have to do better getting on rebounds. With all that said I couldn't be prouder of the way they fought back. It takes a lot of tenacity to come back 0-3 and tie the game. They have to start protecting that glove side angle for Rinne. That's four straight goals from that angle going back to game four versus the Ducks.
