I think Mariota is going to be okay, but this is not a finished team.

We need to upgrade all the CB's, including NB and a safety.  I don't think one draft does that.  We need an improved ILB.  We need a TE.  We need two WRs better than any we have.  You can't get all that in this draft and FA.  The D is okay to beat some teams that are not elite, but this defense would be destroyed by NE, ATL, DAL, SEA and even GB quality teams in a playoff game.

The players still need time in the systems and to develop.  The Titans need much more quality depth to start having top special teams play.  Another area where good teams will kill this team.  If they can get some of that this season, then add a couple of starters in the 2018 draft, plus FAs, then.

I think the team could make the playoffs in 2017.

We already have Sims and Reed.  JMac will go to nickle and hybrid S.   We need one CB........ONE.  Then a development CB.  One S.  two WR.  That is it.  We can fill DL and LB depth with draft picks.  If we go large we could sign Hightower or Alonzo.........it is all doable.  How it unfolds is up to Jrob FA signings.  I do not see any trades for WR until he locks down his FA plan and we will kno wsoon his plan of attack.

could only imagine what JRob could do if he had last years picks 33/43/45 in this years draft class.

I bet he is consumed by scenario's that get him multiple picks in the meat of the draft, between picks 20-70

1-5, 3-100, and 4-125 to Cleveland for 1-12, 2-53, and 3-65. Cleveland ends up with 2 top 5, 1st in the 2nd, still has a 3rd and 2 4ths, we stil have 2 1sts, a 2nd and 2 3rds one of which is at top of the round, we end up with 5 picks in the top 83.

JRob would do that in a heartbeat but there is no way the Browns would.

Comes out dead even on the value chart, they can grab Garrett and a QB.

but moving back from 53 and 65 would see them miss out on a good CB or WR.

its insane the amount of talent they could acquire with picks 1/12/33/53/65 if they don't go QB

as an example, gets them DE/CB/OT/WR/Nickel Corner

1. Myles Garrett

12. Sidney Jones

33. Garett Bolles

53. Zay Jones

65. Cam Sutton

That's the kicker, if they want a QB, it's use 1 overall or trade back up. I agree from a pure football sense it makes sense to wait another year to grab one, but there are probably other factors at work also.

I think op @Jonboy somewhat clarify rebuild and what that means.

Can JRob get the Titans up to playoff level this season?  YES!  Is it a rebuild that compares to Seattle?  NO!  You see teams like the Jets go 10-6 in 2015 and get fans all excited.  The J-E-T-S are back!!!!  The Jets go out, they sign free agents, pay big contracts and flop.  OK, they paid Fitz 13M, but most of the collapse was the whole team.  They were not a unit, coaching changes, too many play for pay and injuries that were supported by too little depth.  The went from 4 wins to 10 wins back to five wins.

I think it takes time to build a champion and even JRob who I admire can't do it in a couple of years.  We are in one of the best positions in the NFL.  We have our QB.  Houston is one of the best teams in the NFL, but they don't have a QB.  Their desperate move paying OS blew up in their face.  They are now facing his contract and a lot of drafted talent is going to start asking for money.  Jax has a smorgasbord of talent, no talent, high price FAs. draft gambles, young talent coming soon asking for money and no QB.  Indy has a QB on his big deal.  Somehow during his first years they have not drafted soundly and have one of the worst defenses in the league.

The Titans are in the sweet spot.  Marcus Mariota.  They can continue to draft well to fill key spots of need and depth.  The draft this year is loaded at the positions we need.  There was a lot of forward thinking coming from last years draft, especially the second round picks.  Bring in a top FA or two, but don't break the bank at the cost of the future.  Let this team grow together as future Titans who develop a team attitude/unison that hasn't been here since Steve left.  We need an understanding, this is what we do, this is how we do it.

IMO, that will all take one more year and the Titans will be a perennial contender.

I think "rebuild" is open to your own interpretation. When I say "complete the rebuild," I'm thinking of having a team that's in contention each and every year, a team like the Ravens, Steelers, Packers, etc. as being consistently good and only having a few "needs" each offseason. For so long, our mentality has been around rebuilding this team from the ground up. We had to find a QB, rebuild our o-line and find a pass rush. Those 3 components are arguably the most difficult components in my mind. Yet with JRob, we now seem to be in a position where are 3 are solid...which means this team should start to show some level of competitive consistency that will return us to the days of McNair when we always knew we had a shot every single year to be in contention for the Super Bowl.

So by my personal definition of rebuild, I say "yes." JRob can complete that this offseason. And if he does, it will be fascinating to watch how our fan mentalities have to shift. It's no longer about replacing the 5 or 6 gaping holes on your team, building an identity, or finding core players. It will become more about incremental improvements and fine-tuning a well-oiled machine. To stick with the car analogy, Fisher and Bud drove this car off a cliff and we've been trying to rebuild the car since. Last year, it looked like we had a pretty good one that only needed a few more parts to be a great one.

MM is already the foundation........I am not worried one bit about him.  I am worried about the D........and WR depth.  But with Walker he can play WR in the slot so there is a lot of options.
