Every time in rains in San Diego, they have to close the beaches for days because raw sewage from Tijuana washes up.

San Diego is overrated IMO. It like an overpriced version of Panama City.

I much prefer Northern California.

LOL this is a complete lie.

I'm not a big fan of San Diego myself.  I've been there 4 times and find the place kind of ugly to be honest.  The weather is great, I understand that.  Of course I also am not a beach person so that doesn't help.

I think TEN fans have the biggest fascination with ex players/coaches that they didn't like.

Idk of another fan base that talks so much about past disappointments.

I guess because maybe other than the MCM, there isn't too much good history to talk about?

That may or may not be true, but this is understandable:  (1)  Mett was a huge topic of discussion and debate, both when he was drafted as it was speculated he could takeover and push out Locker, and during the next offseason as it was hotly debated as to whether we should draft Mariota; and (2) we have a guy on this board whose whole raison detre is to troll about Mett.  Battle lines have been drawn on the issue of Mett like few other Titans in the history of this board.  The Vince Young debates and Eddie George debates are the only ones that were possibly more fierce.

It is very understandable.  The guy was a Titan up until like a month ago.

Meh. This is pretty common across fanbases unless the guy is one of those "lovable loser" types like CBJ who no one really says a bad word about. Fair or not, Mett was loved and irrationally overhyped and put on a pedestal here and then hated here so it kind of goes with the territory. I personally usually hope guys do better once they leave here as long as it's not against us. Some guys are just miscast or the situation isn't right. For example, Mike Martin was drafted to be a 4-3 DT and his body doesn't really allow him to do much else so when we switched to a 3-4 he was kind of shit out of luck. I hope to see him land somewhere he can resurrect his career. I hoped Colin McCarthy could finally kick the injury bug. And so on. I like football and want to see good football played. The more good players we have, the better, more interesting football I get to watch.

Fixed it with the bolded.

If some faggots like hearing the name Mettenberger cum out their mouth and want the Mett show to continue in TEN because they are unable to stop talking about the guy, do you.

It would be a good fix except for the fact that a lot of people had a lot of animosity towards him from the beginning. Namely a lot of the people who were Locker supporters. Disliking a guy because you feel he's over-hyped is something we're all familiar with but the level of hate he got felt a bit more personal.

No question. Even more than this though, his on field play was graded on a much harsher curve than was Jake's or any other highly drafted QB would've been by some members here.

Mettenberger has been afforded more excuses and judged with more stupidity then any Titans QB I can remember.

Mett came in as a strong armed QB. That's it. He never really showed that he was good at anything beside darting it towards his first read at high velocity.

He struggled to move the offense in his rookie year outside of Pittsburgh and was a all-or-nothing QB. It was pretty clear in my eyes. But some people couldn't see past the arm.

I said Mett needed to have a Brady level intellect pre-snap or he was a career backup at best.

He went 0-6 when he had a chance to start. But the stupid still continued.

One of our marquee scouts said he was a Mike Glennon type. The stupid still continued.

We drafted his replacement. The stupid still continued.

He got thoroughly outplayed in training camp. The stupid still continued.

He looked horrible in his starts. The stupid still continued.

The stats show he's one of the worst starters in a decade. The stupid still continued.

Jake Locker had better games than Mettenberger. Vince Young had better games than Mettenberger. So why did the stupid continue?

This is Tim Tebow levels of bad judgement ... and at least Tebow was drafted in the first. The Titans told everyone what they thought of him when they drafted him. And told you what they thought of him when they drafted someone else.

People deserve to get shredded for this so in the future they take off the rose-colored glasses before it's too late.

He may no longer be a Titan but he's a reminder for fans of how dumb we can get. He may help the Titans more that way than he ever did under center.

It doesn't happen often because the area doesn't get a lot of hard rains. But it does happen and it's gross.

That is very fair and true.  But there were plenty of people (I was one of them) that were enamored with Mett's potential from jump and wanted him to just be the starting QB.

It sometimes affects the southernmost beach. There's about 19 other beaches here where that never happens.

Far cry from your OP stating every time it rains we have to close the beaches (plural).

I wouldn't go so far as to say "stupid," but this is actually a pretty damn good synopsis of the Mett era.

I understand the hype when he was drafted and was a part of it.  We all wanted a QB we could believe in.  And it made sense to give him a pass in his rookie season because he did show flashes.  And I understood why people wanted to stock the roster with position players rather than draft a guy like Mariota who wasn't a prototype QB.  But yeah once Mariota was drafted the Mett love became very silly.

First off the 2nd half of this post is completely false. All but maybe 2 or 3 diehards moved on from Mett the second Marcus was drafted. I know myself, one of Mett's biggest proponents, actually got in arguments with some people still screaming Mett was better & I specifically remember you telling me not to bother that they'll just never give up on it. So it's really not accurate to say that anybody was holding onto Mett in '15 aside from a handful.

Secondly, yes, it appears that the folks who loved Mett's potential were wrong. It happens all the time. That said, it's not like this was some lone wolf, crazy town board obsessed with Mett. Many people in the media, some of whom are very well respected like Simms, Jaws, & Cosell, were very impressed with what they saw. Hell, Cosell said he thought Mett was just as good as Winston & numerous NFL people he spoke with agreed. Evan Silva said he was the best rookie QB that year & it wasn't close....and he hates us. Do you remember the media storm after his 1st preseason game about which teams would try to trade for him? Lewis Riddick, an ex scout & sharp dude, listed 5 teams that should call us ASAP. Even ESPN, right after drafting Mariota, started talking about what we would do with Mett. So lets not pretend this was some nobody that people outside of our board didn't know existed. He put some pretty decent tape out there his rookie year.
