For the love of God stop using Belichick and Mularkey in the same sentence.  The league is different than it was two decades ago.  Coaches and QBs don't get four year windows.  You have to show something quickly or else you'll be replaced by someone who will.  For fucks sake, Mike Smith, Mike Shanahan, and Tom Coughlin are likely unemployed next year while this clown deserves chance number four to be a successful coach?  I'm not even campaigning for those guys, but their resumes and recent accomplishments trump the shit out of Mularkey's.

And I don't give a damn how good of an OC Mularkey is relative to the rest of the trendy candidates.  You know who else was a good OC?  Ken Whisenhunt.  You know who else?  Norv Turner.  Who else? Todd Haley.  All were failures as head coaches, but even as awful as they were at times, they still accomplished a shit-ton more than Mularkey.  He's on that long list of guys who just couldn't hack it as a HC.  The other guys, who haven't failed at that level or at least failed a Hell of a lot less, deserve their chance.  We saw his tired shit-show and it was 7 losses that made everyone want to pull their hair out.

And if every time a coach didnt get a second or third chance guys like Dungy and Belichick wouldnt have coached teams to   superbowl wins.

Mularky's failed twice already, he's a third chance guy.  Dungy and Belichick were 2nd chance guys…not as bad as Mularky.

Also, were they the only two "rejects" you could think of?  They're the exception to the rule then.

I will never understand their loyalty to Mularkey.

The Titans situation is not his fault, lets be clear, but he has never demonstrated anything to suggest he's the solution for a complex situation like this.

Let Robinson get his guy in here and build a better tomorrow.

You really count his one year in Jax with his only player being MJD a chance, ok.

If you do, that means Mularkeys two chances were a total of three seasons and had one winning record.

Belichicks first chance in Cleveland lasted five years and he had only one winning season.

Or he was so bad, that they couldn't afford to be patient with him.

lol, b/c the league in 1991 is exactly like how it is today.  Pretty much what merc said. -----------> /thread

Just a question.. Shannahan will undoubtedly call Jeff before getting involved w the Adams Family .. anyone think Jeff endorses that move??

No, not after seeing how they conducted this GM search.  But Shanahan might be desperate to get back into coaching and he might really want to coach Mariota.  Any Schefter would have leaked any Shanhan interest in the Titans by now.

Gus Bradley  hasn't done much better. I'd prefer to move on from Mularkey as well to wipe the slate clean. But holding his coaching record against him is difficult for me. He's pretty much been put in positions to fail every time so it's difficult to gauge him. We're a 3-13 team with 3-13 team talent. I didn't expect a miracle from Mularkey, especially as an interim.

Yes, but I did expect a better effort from the team.  They got destroyed in 3 of their last 4 games and in some games they flat out quit.  That part is on the HC and he should be held accountable.

Lolollol you mad bro?

You obviously missed my post where i mentioned that Mularkey wouldnt even be a top 5 choice of mine.  I never said he deserved it. I just said out of.maybe two candidates, no one really gauranteed to do better than Mularkey. Again, not saying he is deserving, im just arguing those who say its suicide if they stick with Mularkey.

Also, the league is different from one decade ago, the last time Mularkey had a legitimate chance in BUFF. So because he failed ten years ago, you automatically think he will fail again.

And as i looked it up, he went 9-7 and 5-11. So a record of 14-18 is considered a failure? Im sure just because the overall record is a losing one, you would say yes. But had TEN went 9-7 this year, we would be in the playoffs if we had the tiebreaker over HOU, and if he went 5-11 after winning the division, he wouldnt be fired.

You dont like me using Belichick as a comparison because its two decades old, yet you want to hang his time in BUFF over his head even though thats over a decade old in itself. Real nice. Real fair.

You never know, Mularkey gets the nod this year and sucks, hes gone. Maybe N.O. has a terrible year next year and they actually get rid of Payton. Maybe TEN ends up landing him then? Everything happens for a reason and i just dont get why everyone acts like its the end of the world if Mularkey is next years HC.
