If there is one thing that Zelda has taught me, it's that fusing a knife to a bat is the ideal solution in this specific fight

Fuck it. I've changed my vote. Knife it is.

So what's more funny is that when I brought this up it was to all the dads at a three-year-old's birthday party.  Obviously everyone had an opinion.  Then one or two of the moms came around and was li

Ya I think rushing would be a poor strategy against a bat. If I had the bat I’d sit back and tee one off the persons dome like a 90+ MPH fastball.

with that being said I would pick a knife in a fight to death simply because the amount of energy to kill someone with a knife is minimal. Stay outside of range and make the guy with a bat swing wild, get tired and off balance and then go in for the kill.

Lol. It's hysterical you think you could sit back and nail someone like this. It's not that easy.

It also doesn't take a huge swing to seeiously hurt someone with a bat.

If anyone doubts this I challenge you to let an 8 year old hit you in the face with a bat and let's see what happens.

I could take a bat away from every 8 year old on the planet easy.

Key word, "let".

It would not be that easy to hit someone in the face with a bat.

Removing all other factors it's way easier to stab someone than land a solid shot with a bat

Y’all knife fans keep acting like the equally fit and skilled fighter with a bat can’t possibly… step back.

Step back? The thing about the bat is you have to be planted with full leverage to make a fast hard swing and you can't miss or it means likely death.

If you're moving back, dancing around or making fast repeated swings then the power goes out the window

I doubt anyone especially you needs a full swing with a metal bat to concuss someone.

It’s really easy to hit people in the head with a bat.  You swing it vertically, not horizontally.  It’s pretty hard to block a bat coming down on your head.  Without a helmet it’s gonna be hard for the knife to eat that hit on the noggin.  Even at partial power, it’s still lights out.

The strategy for the bat is simple - bat hits head, lights out.  That’s even true in the video @Jamalisms posted.  Even though the girl on the right is still standing after eating a dinger, she’s out of the fight.

You both missed the point.  That being it doesn't take a huge swing or a lot of force to cause some serious damage with a bat.

this is what I mean @OILERMAN - vertical swing, fight over instantly

I actually saw a fight involving a bat once.  That is essentially what happened.  The guy with the bat took one swing and it was over.  The other guy, who was much bigger physically, was knocked unconscious.  His forehead was split from his crown to his nose.  He almost died and probably would have bled out if the paramedics didn't arrive so fast.

Yes it does if you dont have your feet planted and can't wind up. That's why you rush the person with the bat. It's like that scene from hunt for red October where they close the distance with the torpedo before it can arm.

notice who the aggressor is in that vid? if you play defense against someone with a bat no matter what weapon you have, you are a sitting duck.

And if someone rushes in a bat their head is also a sitting duck.  If you wanna assume the knife is trained in Krav Maga, then also assume the bat has an equal amount of training in kendo or some other stick fighting martial art.

All the knife techniques come down to "person who knows how to fight against idiot".  It's wishful thinking.

No someone rushing in isn't a sitting duck to someone with a bat.... I don't know why you and others keep saying that. Its not easy to hit a moving target who is on the offensive with a bat with the force needed to stop them. regardless I've always maintained its not an open and shut case for the person with a bat. someone with any competency with a knife who doesn't back away will have more than a puncher's chance to inflict real damage.
