Terrance West > Bishop Sankey

This thread reeks of attempting to be right while subtly backtracking. Big is doing Oman proud:D

Wait, who's backtracking?

I'm so confused. How can you backtrack from a starting running back, who had an underwhelming rookie year being called decent?

It's a weird dichotomy with Sankey ... like everyone is OK with him not being complete shit. Being "decent." The bar is set low that decent somehow becomes "damn good."

Confused.

It's somewhat what happened with Mettenberger last year. We were so bad we'll accept "OK" and are scared to expect more.

Anyway, he's still Shane Vereen-ish and someone touted that in the thread earlier like that was something great for us ...

For him to be worth the pick and not be a disappointment as a player, I want Jamaal Charles or Hill ... ISH.

I want days like yesterday for at least a couple of games before thinking we're going to get good things consistently. I also want him to relegate Mariota to the backseat for a game or two. Or at least be a part of a rushing attack that does. That is a DAMN GOOD day.

But if all he's gonna be is Shane Vereen I hope Cobb can help ... or West. And eventually be the grinder we need.

Im sorry, what did Lamar Miller do this week?

13 for 53.  Does he really? Against Washington...really?

Bishop 12 for 74, 2TD....

Actually, Washington did well against the run last year. 8th I think. They held opponents to less than 100yds in 6 games. 2 games less than 40 yards. None over 200.

Yup.  Miller had over 1,000 yards last year and averaged 5.1 a carry.  Mentioning that he had a bad game vs a good run defense seems to be cherry picking.

I don't understand how any objective person could look at our offense last year and write off Sankey.  Many on this board have called him a bust.  I saw a guy last year that had an atrocious and injury plagued offensive line, terrible gameplans, and no emphasis on the run game.  Sankey showed flashes last year here and there, but didn't make any big plays.  He looked mediocre at best, but honestly it would be hard for any RB to succeed on our team last year, so I think it is only fair to judge him based on what he does this year and beyond.

I am hoping Sankey can be pretty darn good if given the right opportunities.  I think his confidence and intensity will improve if he has some success.  I don't see him being anywhere close to a top RB in the league, but RBs don't last long and are constantly hurt, so time will tell how Sankey does all things considered.  The guy is pretty damn quick and runs mostly north-south.  He was running hard yesterday and was productive.  If he runs like that all the time, we will be fine.

Oh, and fuck CJ.

Last year is last year. Washington is going to be trash, which means teams will run on them this year and the fact that Miami, a team that is up and coming with a highly sought after RB couldnt make the most of their offensive oppurntunities, shows maybe Sankey can be as good or better than Miller.

Jesus you really love Sankey ... this is some BergerKing praise going down right now ... on 12 carries? After a mediocre season?

It's like you've been waiting for this moment ... when it's like ... half a moment.

Jesus.

I wonder how many times Sankey got hit in the backfield last year before he even had a chance to do anything? At least a few times a game...amazing how much better he can be when the OL actually lets him get back to the LOS before contact.

It's almost as if football is a team sport.

Sankey ran great yesterday, he looked like a big time back. The blocking was obviously better but he looks a little thicker & at least as fast.

I more enjoyed him going outside of the design at times. That's what I need to see. He needs to get MORE than what is blocked or he's not worth it.

The other big thing is he needs to replace McCluster. It needs to be him and a big back only as a one/two punch with one more RB in case of injury.
