scine09
-They didn't want to trade down because they'd be worried about trading down and having no one worth a 1st round grade to take. Felt that it showed with the last of trade downs. -Said that there are players, or maybe at least 1 player, with a 1st round grade remaining -Said they discussed making Mettenberger the future but ultimately decided to lean toward Mariota -Was quick with the question about Mettenberger's agent requesting a trade. He said "no and there's nothing to talk about." -Said he's been contacted by 4 teams about the 33rd pick -Said Mariota will arrive today -Said he'd have been happy with either QB (Mariota/Winston) -Did not want to discuss the parameters of potential deals from last night
rns90
He gave a non answer when asked the question about whether or not they were considering DGB and Gregory for the 2nd rounder.

Stranger
-Was quick with the question about Mettenberger's agent requesting a trade. He said "no and there's nothing to talk about." I thought this was interesting. Seemed to want to move the conversation past that pretty quickly.

Legaltitan
If they think there are a couple of guys with first rd grades still there, sounds to me like we won't be trading down. Unless he meant a guy like Gregory who despite his grade may be passed on.
Stan
If I had to say it is say Mettenberger was going to be their future plans but Whisenhunt fell in love with Mariota and that changed.
kyle021
@Legaltitan I got the feeling he was referring to Gregory Could be Strong or Clemmings I'd be fine with any of those
scine09
@Legaltitan I got the feeling he was referring to Gregory Could be Strong or Clemmings I'd be fine with any of those 3 They asked him specifically about DGB & Gregory. I got the feeling it wasn't either of those two.
Jonboy
He said Gregory and DGB are 1st round talents and someone will take a chance on them, but then he quickly added that there are first round talents still there who don't have those issues. Leads me to believe they're leaning away from either of those two.

That makes no sense. Does this idiot know you can trade for picks next year too? They didn't love Mariota but just "leaned" towards drafting him at #2 and that was enough to not trade the pick? LOL He had no idea who would be available at 19 when he was taking calls. And we have no idea whether Webster or other teams wanted to discuss picks for next year. He also went on to say that you want to take a "second round" player in the second round. Makes me think they might take a 1st round guy at a position that's not a need (defensive line?) or trade down and take a guy at a position of need. (OL/WR). And we have no idea whether Webster or other teams wanted to discuss picks for next year. How can you say he had no idea who would be available at 19? That's ridiculous. Everyone has a general idea of who will (and won't) be there.
