You and I are in total agreement there. I don't even bother to read his stuff anymore. How he survived the purge at the paper a few years ago is beyond me.

I was somewhat surprised to find out he's still alive.

I'm pretty sure this article from Climer is mostly just his opinion and speculation. It doesn't seem to me that he has anything definitive from a Titans source.

The ONLY thing that gives this any legitimacy in my eyes is how pissed off he seemed to be about writing it. He really doesn't want this to happen so I would think he's been looking for signs that it won't happen but everything he sees and hears only cements his concerns.

Hope you're right. He could just be going off of Wyatt and Kuharsky's strong views on the matter. Hopefully, they're all right.

But they were all wrong about Locker when it was obvious they were going to draft him.

Yeah, he definitely may be misinformed or something. I have 0 idea what will actually happen. The funny part is that either way it'll look all too obvious in hindsight.

Just for some perspective, here's what Webster said about Mettenberger in January.

"We definitely like Zach, and he is a good fit for the system. He has a lot of talent and he has worked very hard. And he is smart. We have to go through and do our due diligence on all our options and make sure that we make the best decisions for the Titans long-term. Obviously there will be options in the draft, and there may be options in free agency. ...

"Zach did a great job. Zach is a talented quarterback who fits the pro game, and so that will be something we look hard at in comparing him with the rest of the guys. But I am really happy with how he handled himself. He has poise, he is smart, and obviously he has the big arm, and we are a vertical offense."

Coach/GM speak. He means it but it means nothing.

If he means it, then it obviously means something. Obviously things change and this isn't the end all be all. Like I said, with all the Mariota quotes and hype and stuff (including a lot of the quotes I posted re: Mariota), just wanted to throw that out there.

On the risk of drafting a QB with the second overall pick

"That is part of what you have to consider. If you feel like the player is the best player long-term for your franchise, then that is what you have to do. It can't be about one year; it has to be about the future as well. You take a good look at it and try and make the best decision you can. We know we have a player here in Zach who knows the system and has shown some flashes."
