I have a little more respect for Reese and Fisher just realizing what an idiot they had to answer to, and this is just the stuff we know about. Coach Ocho's draft strategy is probably akin to how Munch chose offensive coordinators....placing pictures on a wall and throwing darts until hit you one. Sure, he made his fair share of mistakes & fumbled some things financially in regards to the cap & bad contracts but the guy knew talent. By & large he had good drafts & good free agency's. And he knew how to close a deal. I like his personality as well, he never took himself too seriously & he seemed to enjoy his work. He always seemed like a good guy. Thats nuts about VY, a 2nd, my goodness. It's bad enough that Bud, or any owner, would force a pick on his team, especially the #3, but to do it not because he fell in love with the player but to score points in some idiotic, imagined ego feud with Houston is criminal. I don't think Reese has ever been tied to Leinart. I believe he was fully behind the VY pick. Of course, they were in the process of walking him to the door. The guy had 3 picks in the top 60 and missed on all 3 of them. Does the name Andre Woolfolk ring a bell? How about Tyrone Calico, Tank Williams or Andre Dyson? Speaking of Dyson, how about Kevin Dyson over Randy Moss? Kenny Holmes or Joey Kent anyone? Just face the facts. He drafted a couple of studs but overall his drafting sucked. He also drafted McNair, Eddie, Benji Olson, Erron Kinney, Jacob Bell, Derrick Mason, Jon Runyan, Derrick Mason, signed Drew Bennett as a rookie FA, Jevon Kearse, Haynesworth, Keith Bulluck, Samari, and Denard Walker. Even Chris Brown had a bunch of big runs but had too many injuries. He also found Wycheck & KVB on the scrap heap. His FA class of Mawae, Hope, and Thornton in '06 was a big reason the team turned it around. Sure, his '04 draft was terrible, every GM has a few. It also included Randy Starks whose been a stud the last 7 years in Miami. I'm sure he knew Kevin Dyson wasn't close to Randy Moss but who knows what happened there, maybe Bud shot it down. And you're going to fault him for Roy Williams slaughtering Calico's knee? They were a top 3-5 team from '99-'03, he must have done something right. headhunter Posted July 29, 2014 Report Share Posted July 29, 2014 In my opinion its hard for players to develop under horrible coaching in what we've had the past several years. Im not defending Webster at all. I feel better now with Horton and Whisenhunt to decide what we need on both sides of the ball. I do like this years draft class, I think Lewan can be a cornerstone left tackle and Sankey should be productive and consistent, the rest will contribute more so than years past.
