N/A
Picking the right guys in the offseason is the key to winning. If you're picking first and make some good decisions then you could easily turn things around. If you want to quit though we can find a replacement. I can transfer teams mid-season. I'll see how the season goes through the offseason, but since rookies will be the only value worth picking in draft for the most part, and how a rookie does in NFL and develops three years out is pure random for fantasy football, I see no value in picking 1 vs 12. And the waiver process does not really exist (see my suggestion below.) So I see no way but extreme random luck to improve a team - might as well throw dice. But perhaps my analysis is wrong, and I will be able to build my team, and if I am right, then many other owners with bad teams will realize they can't improve their teams and will want to leave and the league will fold anyway. Either way it works itself out. Suggestion: For future seasons, is there any chance of changing the waiver process to help bad teams (for example, bad teams get higher waiver priority each week) - or is the open bidding set in stone? The way it is now, even if you navigate the rolling priority avoiding picking up average players waiting for a gem to emerge, you really have no extra shot, as waiver process are designed to do, since it is an open bidding process. Draft question: Since we keep full rosters, will teams have to immediately drop players as they draft players, and the drops will be available to draft by other teams or will you drop players to make room after the draft? Cyrus
Posted in the message board portion of our league last month: "Just a notice on next year's rookie draft since draft picks are able to be traded - we will be having a four round, rookie only standard draft (reverse standings) next year after the NFL Draft. Rosters will be expanded by 4 bench slots and then we will have a cut-down date Week 1 back to the original roster". Also, I'm not sure how anyone can say that the waiver process is an issue when everyone still has plenty of budget. If you want a player - bid more. The issue with waiver priority based on immediate standings is that someone could easily start 0-2 and finish winning the league. Plus player evaluation is not a random process. Having the first overall pick in the draft could easily net you the next Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson. You simply have to know who to take. N/A
Based on the fact that many of our teams are owned by posters who have been around for multiple years on this board I think we will be okay. Following drafts will be set-up to give the weakest teams priority. (reverse-standings, non-snaking). This will give weaker teams the best shot at incoming rookies. I forgot about this until I was thinking about the draft just now. A reverse-standings, non-snaking draft would help. This makes me feel a little more comfortable in the parity of this league. So as you wrote - non snaking which means that the worst team will pick #1 (second worst #2) in all four rounds (or however many there are) of the whole draft, right? Please confirm. Cyrus
From the league message board: - Additionally, due to the fact that subsequent drafts will be based on reverse standings, purposefully losing games late in the season may result in forfeiture of draft picks. - ...we will be having a four round, rookie only standard draft (reverse standings) next year after the NFL Draft So as you wrote - non snaking which means that the worst team will pick #1 (second worst #2) in all four rounds of the draft, right? Yes. This is exactly how it will work - just like the real NFL draft. The team with the lowest standing (worst W/L record) will pick 1st, 13th, 25th and 37th. Team with the second lowest standing will pick 2nd, 14th, 26th and 38th. So on and so forth.

abenjami
I would like to see $0 free agent pickups eliminated. It should cost you $1 to pick up a player. Teams in real life do not get players for free. They have to pay at least the league minimum. So it should cost $1 to pick someone up regardless of whether it is during the waiver process or as a free agent. If you really want to make it fair, get rid of the ability to pick up free agents at any time. Both of my money leagues do this. There are 2 waiver runs each week, one Wed night and the other Sat night. That is when you can pick up players and that is it. Being able to pick up free agents for $0 at any time is a disadvantage to those who don't want to spent their entire lives monitoring injury reports, etc. Aside from that, I think the existing rules are well done. 9 Nines, stop crying and just own up to the fact you made some poor decisions spending $49 on Doug Martin and $10 on a useless Chris Johnson. You are right, there are not many opportunities to improve your team immediately since we are about half way through the season (as in all fantasy leagues). But there will be chances to do that via the rookie draft and using the waiver wire early next season. Sanu, Philly DST, Forsett, Quick, Asiata, Cousins, Royal, Hester, Andre Williams, Oliver...all these guys were undrafted and picked up off waivers/free agency. Similar players will be unknown and emerge next season.

Cyrus
Abenjami - those are good points. I'm 100% open to making those changes. I imagine after this season is done we'll revisit some rules and make any changes necessary to improve the league. I don't want to make any significant changes in season, but that would be a good one to make before next year.

Guest
@Bink. Interested? Here's the team you would be inheriting: Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Doug Martin, Justin Forsett, Jordan Cameron, Brian Quick, Knile Davis, Bobby Rainey, Christine Michael, Austin Sefarian Jenkins and some other random guys. Sure, seems awesome. I will go back and read through the rules.
Cyrus
Nines, make your decision now about whether or not you want to transfer your team. We really want stability in this league - better to opt out now than later.
oldschool
I say boot Nines. He does nothing but complain. Check out the other threads he's started in this forum regarding rules in other leagues. He's even played this "I'm gonna quit midseason" card before. abenjami
I like Nines. I don't think we should boot him. He just needs to take on the challenge of building a winner after a not-so-solid draft.
CMJ
Nines is a FF badass. But he's taking it on the chin in this league and it does sound like sour grapes on his part.
abenjami
Here's my best shot at impersonating ME. Hey Bubba, it's easy to win all your FF leagues when you quit all the ones where you have shitty players.
