CharrdWood
So...which team do you expect to win in Brasil? Which team do you expect to be a dark horse? Finals prediction? Which team do I expect to win? Brasil. Not because I think they're great, but they're solid and playing at home. Not to mention that NO European team has ever won in South America, although I'd put my money on Germany if I had to. Dark horses...I would have said Colombia if Falcao hadn't gotten injured, and they still might make some noise, but I don't see them as having the horses. Same goes for Uruguay if Suarez was entering the tournament without injury concerns. That said, keep an eye on Belgium. That squad is STACKED with talent from front to back. I also NEVER rule out Italy, because they always know how to approach a knockout tournament. France could do something...tremendous talent throughout the side and Giroud is very underrated. England have no chance...because they're England. I believe that the Argies will seize up in the face of such hostility as they're likely to encounter in Brasil, and I don't rate them so much anyway. The table won't be as tilted for Messi as that which he's used to. Brasil and Germany are the favorites for me.
wiscotitansfan
I have a bet against a friend for $5 (we make these bets just to add interest to otherwise meaningless games) where he has Spain and Argentina and I have the field. Other than that I just want the US to look competitive and play real soccer with a few good goals and obviously hope to leave pool play in a pipe-dream world. Other than that, I couldn't care less besides not having Spain/Argentina win.

IrishTitansFan
Think Argentina will win it. Brazil will do well though, but may lose to Spain in the semi's. Think Brazil will meet England and beat them. Spain vs Argentina for the finals. My dark horses are actually England though, think they will do very well and win the group but, like I said, think they'll be beaten by Brazil. Pragidealist
When we get to watch the World Cup, we're all winners. Except the people of Brazil, apparently.
Pragidealist
USA will win it until proven otherwise. Despite Klinsi's odd mind games. Darkhorse- Brazil. I doubt the European teams can handle the heat. Spain's tika taka might hold up except the whole team has aged. Outside of the US- it would be a cool story for Messi to win a World Cup in Brazil... I actually do think the US can get out of this group. Germany looks old and out of form- add on the heat and they are beatable. Portugal really are uninispiring if you can contain the "world's best player" for 90 minutes. We'll see. The US looks sharp, focused, and edgy. More so than I can remember. But all I want is solid competitive play... go at them and play good soccer.
heyitsmeallen
USA! They need to start by beating Ghana
Jamalisms
I always root for Argentina after the US. Would enjoy seeing Messi add a Mundial to his resume, especially in country of main rival. I would have had Uruguay as something of a darkhorse if Suarez was healthy. Chile is also something of that ilk. A lot of South American teams are. The US had a chance to surprise because they've been undergoing a transition. I like the direction, don't necessarily expect it to pay dividends in the next month (or two weeks) but the unknown of it means I wouldn't rule out at least competing for that second spot, especially now with Rolando a mild question mark. Good chance Ghana slaps them down a third Cup in a row, though. A tie would be OK-ish with me, a loss and especially a dramatic loss would be a bummer. I don't suspect England has a shot at the final but they should advance past first stage. If I had to make a prediction, I'd take the easy route and have recent big tourney winners (Spain) taking it all. Home country would be plan B. CharrdWood
Dude if i tell you who I think I am going to win will you call me a retard and dullard again? Because if you're willing, I'll actually start reading up on it and I'll tell you. That depends...are you going to break out the "in-depth" analysis you did about the SCF or are you actually going to put some effort into it? Have you ever followed soccer in Europe or South America? I don't dislike you, but without giving reason to your opinion you're just a blowhard. If you're going to come back with, "Brasil are, prima facie, obviously the best team in the tournament and can't be beat!" then stay home. If you have anything intelligent to say, then I'm sure all will appreciate it. Other than OMan and CMJ, both of whom just want to see mud-slinging! CharrdWood
FEEEEEEEECK OFF Come off it, mate, in which reality do you think England have a chance? If Walcott and the Ox were fit to play alongside Sterling then, maybe, just maybe, they could make some noise. They'd also need Wilshere and Barkley at 100% and really up for it. Add in that England are weaker in the back 5 than they have been in years and you know it's going to end in tears.

Spain's tiki-taka has finally (praise the lord! the most boring football EVER played) been sussed, and Spain lack the cutting edge in their forwards to win this Cup imo. Why is everyone sleeping on a very potent Germany and an Italy team that has no burden of expectation?

CharrdWood
I'm going to pick Uruguay, with Suarez dominating. *IF* Suarez is 100% fit Uruguay have to be regarded among the favorites. It's too bad they were drawn in such a difficult group, otherwise they could have rested him 'til the knockout stage. But I fear he's not really completely fit. But, with all the history between the two countries, it would be awesome to see Uruguay win the World Cup in Brasil!
