It's misleading and you know it. How about you don't post any quotes then? Instead of trying to push your point of view.

How is it misleading? You are the one who is turning the quote into a statement that Greene will get the majority of the carries. All the quote says is that CJ will lose some carries to Greene and that CJ won't be happy about it.

Who said Greene is getting the majority? I think you're arguing with me for the sake of arguing.

You draft a guard #10 in the year 2013 he better play day 1 (he will) no matter what. Every one in the org knows it. This isn't necessarily good news for the offense if he is not ready.

You draft a bust QB with the 8th pick of he draft and are stuck with him, you had better as heck improve the running game behind him. Hence, why we drafted a road grading guard.

It makes sense that Warmack is going to struggle more with the pass than the run early.

JJ Watt has got to be licking his lips.

Teams will isolate in him in pass protection and make him prove he can hold up. You can bet on it.

Yep, they will pick on his as a weak link.  They couldn't do that with studs like Harris and Lutui manning that side.....

I'd place my bets on Warmack handling himself just fine.  He will make the footwork adjustments and acclimate himself to the speed of the game.

Sure he might get beat occasionally like any rookie.

And while we are discussing and way over blowing a pre-season performance why wouldn't teams isolate Roos in pass protection "to prove he can hold up".  He got beat as bad or worse than Warmack on one play.

The reality is in the long haul it is actually a blessing Warmack got beat some his first outing.  He is the type of kid that will bust his butt to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Relax dude. I'm not knocking Warmack at all. It's a fact he's known as more of road grader so teams will make him prove he can do well in pass protection. It's common sense. And you better believe teams are going to test Roos more often than in years past if he has a repeat performance like the one last Thursday. The NFL is about dictating to your opponent and exploiting weaknesses either real or perceived.

Big,

The point was Webster said CJ will not be happy with the amount of carried Greene gets, there is nothing hidden about that. I in no way tried to insinuate Greene would get more

Greene is going to bring the type of hard nosed, power running, hit the hole hard type of running game Munch wants. I think he is going to get a lot of carries, it is going to be nice to have a good power back again. Even if he did go to Eastern Iowa University...very happy to have this guy on the team.

There is a basic disconnect on this board regarding how carries work. We have had several debates in the past that stem from this.

Some posters have argued how CJ has been force fed more than any RB because of the % of team carries he has. These posters regularly point to other top backs and how many carries their backups get, as opposed to backups in TN.

For some, this is proof that Webster feels forced to give CJ all the carries because of his contract. (Side note: any carries the backup RB does get proves how much the coaches want to bench CJ but can't). This line of thought conveniently slams CJ and the coaches no matter what happens.

Then there are the posters in group B: we've argued that the % of carries and these comparisons are irrelevant, because TN doesn't have as many carries in the first place. CJ gets the majority because he's still getting relatively few carries:

  • 17.25 carries per game in '12 -- tied for 9th with Shonn Greene
  • 276 carries total – well below 300, and only 25 more than his rookie year where he shared the load with Lendale. Touches are even closer as he caught more passes in ‘08 than ‘12.

CJ’s the main back – he’s going to get 15-20 carries a game, or between 20-25 touches total, and if he isn’t going over that they will continue giving him the rock. Since ’08, Fisher and Munchak have both wanted a better backup/short yardage back, but lacked a viable alternative (Ringer always got hurt, and Harper/Reynaud sucked).

It’s not hard to understand – we will run the ball more often under Frodo than we did under Palmer. CJ will probably get between 275-310 carries depending on his effectiveness and health. Since we will be running more, Greene and the backups will have more opportunity to run also, and will likely be used in short yardage situations. CJ’s % of team carries will go down, the total team carries will go up, and every back will hopefully post better numbers than last year.

And for the love of God, please don't argue how CJ is the reason we didn't have more carries in general. That's a totally separate conversation (I can see the strawman arguments coming already).

I heard a podcast today on FF, they said AP had the 2nd most amount of snaps % wise out of RBs, CJ was #1 and almost 10 % higher than AP.

He would have been hurt by the blowouts but actually they were beaten so badly in some games he still got a lot of carries as Munchak tried to end the misery
