scine09
I know most won't agree with me but I think Brady is replaceable. If you find a smart guy with a good and accurate arm and give him the advantages that Brady has gotten then I think you'd see another guy who people would consider to be a "great quarterback." Steve Young said himself that if the QB knows what the defense is going to do before the play is run then it's over, the defense has no chance. In fact I think that the Patriots would have won the Super Bowl the year that they went 11-5 with Cassel had they made the playoffs. They were the 1st 11-5 team since the playoffs expanded to 12 teams I think to miss the playoffs. Peyton Manning is not replaceable. To me he is the greatest QB of all time, Super Bowls or no Super Bowls.
Guest
Again, what happened in the years of 2001-2004 should have no bearing on what is going on in 2013. You can't simply leave out the years that don't suit your argument when making a comparison. Truthfully, nothing has a bearing on what is going on in 2013 than possibly what happened in 2012. Ultimately, the Manning/Brady thing will come down to an argument of preference, like comparing Elway to Young or Montana. You can always find a way to skew the argument to suit your needs because both are dominant QBs. You say Manning isn't replaceable but Brady is and I'm not sure I buy that but it is totally unfair and complete garbage to dismiss Brady as the product of a system. Truthfully, success and statistics are important and Brady has both. He led a team to the Superbowl without losing a game while putting up one of the most dominant offensive seasons in NFL History. That isn't meaningless. We can "agree to disagree" about the debate on who's better, but to dismiss Brady and say that any smart and accurate guy could do what he has done is honestly a bit silly, no matter how much you hate the guy. scine09
I don't hate Brady. I think that Brady is maybe the luckiest player in the history of the league to be able to play QB for that franchise. I can't wait till he retires, assuming that Belichick and Adams are still with the Patriots, to see how the next guy does. If the two of them are gone then there's no way to make a comparison though. I bet the dropoff won't be as much as you may think.

I meant lucky to be in the situation that he was in. And it's not hard to do what Brady has done with the ability that Brady has when he knows what plays the defense is calling all the time. scine09
So it's not hard to do what Tom Brady has done if you are...Tom Brady? I think that Matt Cassel could have done what Brady did if he had Brady's resources. Again, unless Brady goes down again or if he retires and Adams and Belichick are still with NE then there will be no way to ever prove this. Unless someone outs the Patriots again for continuing to cheat which will nullify anything that Brady ever accomplished and keep he and Belichick from the hall of fame, which is deserved. The best way of saying is that I think Adams mostly and even Belichick are more crucial to the Patriots success than Brady.
freakingeek
I think the head coach angle is a legitimate arguement when talking about Brady and Manning. If I'm goin g to the playoffs with either Belichick or Dungy, I'll take BB any day on putting his team in a better position to win. Purely from a statistical perspective BOTH QBs are pretty damn even.
oldschool
you guys are wasting your time. Scine is just looking for a way to continue his incessant bitching about the Patriots and how they are cheaters. It's borderline obsessive.

What if Manning didn't have Harrison and Wayne? What if Elway hadn't gone to the Broncos? What if Rogers went down and Matt Flynn...? What if JFK wasn't assassinated? What if Kurt Russell had been cast as Han Solo? You can believe in hypotheticals, and that's fine and cool and stuff, but that doesn't make them legitimate points. Edit: It is fine to give BB credit, but this is a slippery slope when it comes to QB and coach and absolutely doesn't dismiss such extreme accomplishments. you guys are wasting your time. Jamalisms
Manning has neither Harrison or Wayne now, nor the indoor turf, nor the rest of his coaching/supporting cast. First year = top seed.

This thread had nothing to do with that but if you want to make into it then yes, they are cheaters. I was merely trying to compare the two QB's and show that Manning since 2005 has been better than Brady h2h.
StephenIsLegend
Both are incredibly great QBs, and some of the best of all time. However, I think Brady has the edge. Oh, and it shouldn't be a surprise the Broncos have the top seed. This is the best team Peyton has played for.
