It was crazy windy in Miami, but I think GZ was overcompensating for the wind going right by kicking far left. It's not just about trusting Sam Bradford it's about trusting someone like David Gibson? WHo is that you ask? Exactly. Long enough, schmong enough. The uprights weren't wide enough. That win Fisher was supposed to get wasn't winny enough. Just sayin... This is the reason why the 1999 Titans did not win the SB. Also, the reason why the 2000 Titans did not win the SB. AND the reason why the 1998 Titans did not even make the playoffs. You can have all the talent in the world, but it takes a coach................. To hear some tell it Fisher does more with less than God himself. Too bad "more" never equates to one of these. The kick was long enough but was wide, regardless let's say he had a 25% chance of making it. Given the kid's leg that's reasonable. Now let's pretend Fisher went for it. Given the average play the Rams offense runs gains 4 yards I'd say the chance of them converting was AT MOST 40%. So you convert and gain let's say 10 yards. You are still left with a 56 yard field goal. What's your chance of that? Definitely higher than a 66 yard but still low. Let's call if 50% (I'm being super generous). 0.5*0.4 is 20%. He has attempted some kicks from longer than 63 yards and hasn't hit any of them. If I wake up tomorrow and hear Bradford demanded a trade I would understand. Surely this is self-evident. Surely it's evident that completing a pass for 7 yds didn't tie the game, any idiot knows this right? It's doing something of equal (being very generous here, as there have obviously been many more 4th and 7s converted than 66 yard field goals) chance to improve your situation. Considering Scine said this was the worst decision he'd ever seen I'd think it would get some coverage or get debated. I think going for it on 4th and 7 would have been fine too. It was a close decision either way and low % either way. I can post this opinion about 20 more times if people want me to. The fact that the Fisher haters are trying to cling on to this as some sort of proof Fisher is a bad coach is hilarious. All this debate has moved the focus away from one very important issue in the Rams game yesterday. Did anyone see the bad ass pink breast cancer awareness shades? "I took the wind in the fourth quarter in the event we would need it," Fisher said. "We had a good wind. The odds of Greg making that kick from that distance I thought were much greater than us converting on fourth down." Maybe Fisher opts for a different strategy if Sam Bradford wasn't sacked for a three-yard loss by defensive end Olivier Vernon on a third-and-4 play from the Miami 45. "I counted off and knew it was 65, 66 (yards)," Fisher said. "And Greg's got that kinda leg." There were 37 seconds remaining when Bradford took the snap on the play that resulted in the Vernon sack. After the setback, Fisher stopped the clock with four seconds remaining. Zuerlein's 66-yard attempt — which would have broken the NFL record by three yards — was long enough, but wide left. "I think anytime as a quarterback, and as a competitor in that position, you'd like the ball in your hands" on fourth down, said Bradford, who completed 26 of 39 passes for 315 yards. "... But at the same time, this whole locker room has all the confidence in the world in Greg." It took a lot for the Rams to even get that close to a tying attempt after taking over on their 3 with one timeout and 1:41 to go. Bradford completed six of seven passes on the drive before the Vernon sack. Rams receivers did an admirable job of getting out of bounds to stop the clock — no one better than Brandon Gibson, who made a leaping one-handed circus catch. "... If Bradford can't be trusted to make a 7 yd throw in a clutch situation (he could also run for it if he sees an opportunity) he shouldn't be your QB. Exactly. And it's all good to say the Rams are young and Bradford isn't there yet etc, but it is this exact mentality I have a problem with when it comes to Fisher and it is this exact mentality that does not seem to change regardless of who he has to work with.
