LOL Sales tax is just increasing taxes on the poor. It's a scam by the rich and Republicans fall for it EVERY time. The rich understands how money works. Regular people just look at their pay checks and don't realize they're paying more in taxes.

This is you falling for propaganda and misinformation AGAIN.

Consumption taxes are often considered as the most regressive component of the tax system.

Consumption taxes fall disproportionately on low-income households in most countries.

The top income decile pays only about 60% of the income share paid by the bottom half.

Just trying to simplify the tax code bro.  A lot of people complaining that the rich don't pay taxes.  Increase the amount of sales tax and get rid of the other taxes.  Rich folk will still buy expensive stuff at Erewon or Saks Fifth Ave.

And if you want to give tax breaks to the super poor, have them show their tax bracket and perhaps we can come up with a system that they don't need to pay even sales tax.

Every time I think about current tax rates I'm reminded that Trump is a child molestor

Tax cuts for the wealthy over the last 45 years have led to the vast majority of the federal debt

The entire “Make America Great Again” mantra is clearly stating that America is no longer a great country and that we must restore it to greatness…. which presumably refers to the post-WWII era when t

Sales tax isn't going to generate any real revenue. That's totally retarded and moronic.

The top 1%'s wealth has increased at an obscene level the last 10 years and Trump gave them massive tax cuts twice, also lowered the corporate tax rates while they were making record profits.

It isn't rocket science.

I understand what you're wanting to do but what you're repeating is more propaganda and misinfomation. They spread these ideas and misinform the public on what it does and what it's doing b/c they know you're not going to actually look into it and see who actually pays those taxes.

Sales tax is what's called a regressive tax.

What we need are progressive taxes.

I guess we'll see what happens. Cal is going negative every year. My money's on predicting more billionaires leaving California and the tax burden's going to reply on the upper middle class then the middle class.

Which is why it's not as simple as "hey tax the rich". It's a mixed tax system including corporations. Typically these days people are trying to do something like this:

In current tax policy research, the “balanced system” many economists discuss includes:

  • Progressive income tax
  • Consumption tax
  • Corporate tax
  • Property or land taxes

You can't just have a flat tax or some simple system b/c the rich and corporations will find ways around them.

Don't you think it's harder to track tax avoidance if the system's more complicated?

I personally think the simpler it is, the easier it is to track.

Only if you want to tax the poor and middle class more and let the rich keep getting richer. Easy isn't better b/c it's easy.

As long as government workers are smarter than the top CPA's and expensive lawyers, you'll squeeze it out of the uber wealthy.

DOJ lawyers are some of the best in the world so too are some of the IRS accountants.

I work w/ government specialists everyday. They're some of the smartest people I've ever met.

Then they probably know the tax code inside and out. And they know that these top lawyers and CPA's are legally setting up their clients to avoid taxes and not merely evade them.

I don't think so... but that's why I like to keep it simple. So that even average people can smell bullshit when they see it.  When the tax code gets too complicated, average Joe's don't want to deal with it.

I'm perfectly fine keeping things the way it is.  I'll just learn the secrets of the rich and copy them.

Why do we care what the averge joe understands? Do you like cell phones? Do you know how they work?

The "secrets of the rich" don't apply to you.
