Do you follow the NBA? Doncic is a top 5 player at 25. The market for him would have been insane. Teams spend years in hell dreaming of being able to flip assets for a guy like that.

Lots of talk among Mavs fans that this is the first step of the new owners wanting to move the team to Vegas. They didn’t want to pay the super max contract that Luka was due to sign, and trading the

I just don't see what is in it for the Mavs, this feels like a deal a Laker homer would get laughed at suggesting.

I just saw where Nico said he didn't discuss this with Jason Kidd, like not even a flyby this is what's going on. Jason Kidd, the team's coach, basically learned about it like everyone else.

This is wild.

I wonder if there's a way that the NBA can step in and say that the GM is not acting in the best faith for the team and veto it?  Probably not at this point but there should at least be an investigation.

Nico better deliver them a title with AD and Kyrie this season or next.

Not happening. This elevated them to the second tier, like you mentioned, but they aren't a legitimate contender. This completely fucks up their spacing. They don't have a PG. If they use Kyrie as the true point it takes away from what makes him special. You can't run an offense through him like that.

I'll say this, they do still have assets to keep making trades. But the people they needed are off the market now except I guess Durant, but even that is a ridiculously clunky team.

I legitimately have no idea what to think about it. If you have a minute check out the presser just from being a fan of sports and what the idea of sports in and of itself means, which is to compete. Jason Kidd, a HOF player, a successful coach, is sitting there with a 1000 yard stare you see on people's faces while witnessing and processing a tragedy lol. I'm not exaggerating.

Yep. Kidd is saying what he has to say but he is dead inside. Everyone involved in this is legitimately in shock aside from Pelinka (who looks like he just fucked your wife and somehow got you to buy him a beer for it), and Nico--who has a level of obliviousness that is surreal.

This was interesting--a body language expert reviewing Luka's press conference.

I don't know what to say to you right now. That is a deer in the headlights if I've ever seen it.

I think he just didn't know what to say at first.  I didn't get that vibe, though.

@IsntLifeFunny

The link above breaks down Luka and Kidd's body language.

She points out that Kidd is giving out incredible stress signals that he doesn't normally give. Really interesting stuff--he said some of the right things, but is clearly upset about this.

That was tough to watch just from a human perspective.

I know he's rich and blah blah, but the guy isn't a native here, still speaks with a very heavy accent, obviously loves the game, loves the fans, is a badass competitor...and on the biggest stage he was fucked off. You can see it, and the lady highlights it making it even worse, but damn.

I'm sure he'll bounce back from this, but the entire thing is just so fucking unnecessarily weird and everyone involved besides the cucked and the greaser are left astounded.

Even AD is embarrassed by all of this, which sucks because he's a good guy. His name is getting run through the mud like a motherfucker. That takes a toll regardless of your circumstance.

People forget that these are actual humans we are talking about. They do have a life and emotions and shit.

Processes matter, and as far as I'm concerned this is disgusting on all levels.
