nine Posted November 2, 2022 Report Share Posted November 2, 2022 It is very much in the team’s best interests to have their best players healthy and available down the stretch and in the postseason. The approach we’re seeing with Henry is same approach they tried last year…and it led to Henry missing half the season and being extremely rusty and largely ineffective in their one-and-done playoff appearance. After last year’s experience and embarrassing playoff exit, you’d think the coaching staff might be a bit more judicious this year about overusing Henry early in the season. That’s not soft…it’s just smart coaching and learning from past mistakes. Knock it off. You want to know why TN has started slow the last few years? Sitting starters in preseason. They need to play! Im telling you injuries are part of the game. Playing with players who are anti fragile is a Rx for losing/mediocrity. We need to play people if they can play. Football players need tackling and contact to perform optimally. Larry Johnson holds the NFL record of 416 carries in season...and that season effectively ended his career. I'm a huge Henry fan, and I think he'll eventually be enshrined in Canton as one of the greatest running backs of all time. But as great as he is....last year proved that he's not some magical superhuman and utterly impervious to injury. No matter how badly the coaching staff tries to pretend otherwise. Last year, they ran Henry until he literally broke. A year later, they're doing the exact same thing all over again. If they want to give him 30+ carries down the stretch and in the playoffs....hey, great. That's when he's historically been at his best....they should get him the ball as much as possible. But doing it over and over this early in the season is stupid and irresponsible coaching. In fact, he was pissed when they took him out of the game in Houston. I saw him on the sideline arguing to get back in. That is my RB. He is not soft like half of you. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. He is the only chance we have to win now. And careers have time lines. He wants to win more than some of you. That is why I love the guy. This team is loaded with guys like him. They come here because Vrabel makes them come here. You know what youre getting when your a titan under Vrabel. If you do not like it, go be a Jag or Colt fan. Be soft. Henry is obviously their best option….but he’s not the ONLY option. Unfortunately, that’s the approach they’re taking….and if they keep it up, it’s gonna blow up in their face again just like last year. And after Henry is sidelined and the offense struggles to score 14 points, they’ll blame their struggles on all the injuries…. while conveniently ignoring the fact that losing Henry again was completely predictable and avoidable and they simply chose not to do it. Even if he isn't injured, there is another risk that we have seen before. By game 18 or 19, he is just worn down enough and the opposing defense is just good enough that his effectiveness is compromised. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
