One feature that I'm hopeful is easy enough is to summon friends in to join your game. Would be fun to play co-op.

My thoughts, too. Doesn’t necessarily mean all that much to me, having never played them, but from what I read, the accessibility of co-op is much better than in the past games. Supposedly you can invite friends to join without the use of some sort of semi-rare resource, as was the case in prior games apparently.  I went ahead and pre ordered it at Best Buy, haha. The ps4 version has a free upgrade feature for once They restock the 5, so that’s pretty cool. I’ll be checking back in on this thread frequently in the coming weeks to compare thoughts with you all. Definitely pumped.

Have you ever thought about dressing up like a medieval fighter, welding a real sword to adventure around your neighborhood.  You could probably take down enough people to gain a few levels before pol

As someone who pretty much only plays games with their free time and is like fully ingrained in that culture, let me just say respectfully…y’all are crazy lol

Anyone review or give an opinion on Assassin Creed Valhalla?  I might get it first since I can get a used one for $15, then by time I finish it, Elden Ring will be discounted.    Plus build and play guides will be around more.

Valhalla was good when I played it. For whatever reason, I didn’t feel compelled to finish it, though. That probably says more about me than the game though, because it was definitely fun. I think the base raiding gameplay loop got stale after a while. Much more RPG focused than the previous installments I had played. Idk man, based on this hype train I might consider skipping Valhalla and going straight for Elden. Sounds like it’s gonna be another Skyrim or Breath of the wild with regards to its longevity. Yeah it’ll be an extra $40, but you can make that back 10 fold if you go ahead and put $20 on the Titans ‘23 super bowl champions.

I played the early Assassin Creeds but did not like them as I do not like scripted games that force you down paths - I like opened ended with quests that you can leave or take, not be forced to finish to keep progressing.  Because of that I never played any Assassin Creed games after briefly playing the first and maybe second one.

I read that Assassin Creed Valhalla is a large open world.    Is that correct?  Or does it force you to follow a preplanned path and is not really an open world?

Who is buying in?

I know @Jonboywill and am strongly debating it myself. I've never actually played any of Dark Souls or their other games but I need a big game to sink my teeth into (actually just downloaded Fallout 76 since it's free and I need something) and this is getting great reviews.

From what I've been seeing Elden Ring is much more Skyrim-ish. It looks a lot more accessible to the average gamer than the Souls games. Still a tough game, but doesn't seem to punch you in the nuts quite as much.

I never played a souls game and don't generally like dark fantasy that tries too hard. On the fence about Elden Ring.

I played a bunch yesterday. I probably died 100 times already. Every enemy hits for about half your life, some one shot. It's humbling and frustrating.

On the bright side, every thing I do feels earned.

I ended up getting it. Played about an hour so far, glad they didn’t make it too mainstream and stray away from a souls game feel too much but the large areas from what I can tell in the very limited amount I’ve played makes it a bit easier to at least avoid enemies and recover your runes or whatever they are in this game

Yeah, you can just avoid most enemies if you can't win. And, most of the time, you can recover everything from your death so that's not too painful besides the blow to your ego.
