The Good News Thread

There's a lot of daily focus in the news on what ails America, and people are cognitively wired to be more reactive to news that makes them angry / bad news - so the focus is always on that as the media is more focused than ever on driving profit and clicks. It's hard to contextualize things in the world when people are constantly hearing only bad news stories, some manufactured and some real - and with all the focus on the political and racial divisions and police incidents and what not in the country, it always (falsely) seems like everything is going downhill.

Figured we need a good news thread so that we're not just always cognitively biased toward covering bad news and problems. We should also cover areas of progress, good deeds, and general good news.

Not to derail this thread - but has the gov started to repair the damage to the USPS yet?

Several new governors on the USPS board, they should be in position to oust DeJoy soon. Been a lot of maneuvering going on with the USPS board to get it done.

The sheriff was all grins.  "You just made a citizens arrest!"  It is a good thing he's a citizen because if he was police that looked like police brutality.  The hero better not have a big corporate job or be from a famous/wealthy family. Civil suit would be coming.

20-30 years ago, I was driving through a grocery store parking lot;  as I passed the store entrance, there was a sudden commotion and I had to slam on my brakes to avoid a guy who ran out right in front of me;   he glanced off my front bumper and went sprawling on the ground but scrambled up and ran off.

I was initially stunned....but as I looked around and assessed the situation, I quickly realized this guy had just tried to snatch a woman's purse at the store entrance, but she screamed and refused to give it up;  after dragging her to the ground, he let go of the purse and took off running.....and right into the front of my car.      Once I realized what had just happened, I wished  I hadn't seen the POS coward and that I would have  just run over his useless ass.

Thought I'd throw this in with the Good News as well.

Certainly more likely the Trumptards will listen to Trump before they listen to Biden.

But it has become so much of a cultish belief to deride the vaccines that I’m not sure it really will matter. He gets booed at events when he talks about getting the vaccine.
