OILERMAN
Which one of our "insiders" told us months ago that the coaches were ready to start Kevin Matthews but that they didn't want to do it too soon since it might look bad since he was Bruce's son? Has that changed? Considering they were on the verge of signing Wells or Myers to play center for the next 4 years or so I'd say it was never true

I just thought a new inside scoop might be entertaining.

Oiler FANatic
I could see the back up battle being Amano Kropog Durand robinson Matthews Obviously Otto isn't going anywhere, and they're not going to give up on Stingily this soon. That just leaves 1 or 2 more backup spots. I simply can't see Amano being kept around as a backup at over $3M. They might keep Matthews, but I think the others are all long shots. NashvilleNinja
As long as the interior of the line improves does it really matter how it's done or who it's done with? If Amano could suddenly become a top-notch center, then by all means let the asshole stay. I don't see a chance in hell of that happening, but what do I know? I know I wouldn't bat an eye if DeCastro fell to the 20th pick. I'm drafting the dude. I might even trade up a spot or three if he fell to the 17th or 18th spot and I thought one of the teams in front of me might take him. Anyone know what the guard situation is for the Jets, Bengals, Chargers, and Bears?
Justafan
Would definitely take decastro without hesitation if he fell to 20. Too bad that's not going to happen. He's a great prospect, comes from a great school, has a great family, is very intelligent and has elite tangibles. Sorry guys, he's going early. HOTT
Why a major one? He only missed two games last year, and before missing five games in 2010 he made 123 consecutive starts. I was thinking he had spent major time or IR the past few years rather than just ending the last two there. He has been a good one over the years and perhaps he is an upgrade. OILERMAN
According to the Vikings beat writers Hutchison has been injured 3 seasons in a row. He didn't always miss games but his play dropped while being injured. He's 35 years old this season so acting like he's not a concern is wishful thinking. There isn't a chance in hell the Titans would trade up in the first round for a guard
BurheadTitans
I wonder if Duke Robinson can finally put it all together here, he was projected as the best guard prospect in the 2009 draft.
Hammer
Is it true that the staff doesn't want Harris playing center because he doesn't snap well?
Jd8
Something like that I would say. Velasco has less experience at C but it seems they feel more comfortable with him.

Of course he's not the player he was 5 years ago, but he's still a big upgrade over Scott. Mawae was actually older than Hutch when the Titans signed him, and losing him has been a huge blow. Hutchinson was even better in his prime than Mawae, he's still better than most even if he's not close to 100%.
reo
Losing Mawae wasn't a huge blow... Mawae's sharp and quick decline combined w/ us not having a good replacement were huge blows.

We have had the same level of play with Amano that we had with Mawae...shitty.
