What was clear, and pointed out by some, is that Trump's lawyers were actually embarrassed to be in front of the world making the cases they were because there points were so ridiculous. You could see it in their faces.

Sean Spicer used to have that same "I don't even believe the shit I'm saying" look on his face.

Sadly, I doubt many senators are approaching as an actual trial with an impartial jury making a decision based on the evidence presented.   Their votes are already cemented, regardless of evidence.

Did you see Rand Paul? The little twat refused to wear a mask and spent the entire time doodling on a notebook.

Maybe it’s time for a new Senate rule about mask wearing now that Schumer is majority leader...

Rand Paul is one of those who would vote to acquit after watching a video of Trump setting fire to the Capitol and gunning down members of Congress.

Are we realistically expecting a conviction here?  Or are we just getting all excited over what should be and won't happen?

Fat chance it happens. McConnell floated a trail ballon a few weeks ago about voting to convict and purging Trump from the party and it was shot down right away. That being said it is good to get all this on the record. Trump is on Trial but so is the Senate. The Dems can use it to help win elections in 2022 and beyond.

No one should be expecting a conviction here. Can only hope we'll get 6 Republican votes, or 7/8 max in a best case scenario if anyone else is so compelled by the evidence/conscience (unlikely!).

I wonder how the voting would differ if they did it via secret ballot.

Every member of Congress needs to be reminded that the pieces of shit who invaded the Capitol and physically attacked the Capitol Police with weapons did so while waving Trump flags and using Trump’s own words as their battle cry.
