j/k... I like dark themes while browsing on mobile - especially those themes which are true blacks since on an OLED screen it saves battery. But on my laptop I prefer light thems.

I'm a light theme person as well.  This dark theme is better than the old one though I think.

The only thing that you might consider is that it is a bit hard to differentiate between the quoted part of a post and the new part.  The background of the quoted part is slightly darker, but the font size and color seem the same, so it all sort of runs together.   Your post above about differentiating between read/unread content on the main screen where you quoted 3 posts is a good example.  It might be an improvement if the text of the quoted part was smaller or dimmer or the background was more different or something so the new message stands out more from the quoted text more.  Just my opinion, feel free to ignore.

 

 

I can take care of this. Now that it is over here and I am actually using it to read the board I was sort of thinking the same thing.

In the works and it will be miles better than the old one. Just need to get some of the layout stuff corrected over here that popped up after moving it over so I can use that as the base.

 

I built this theme with color variables instead of hard coding them. I did that so we wouldn't have weird colors in areas we didn't account for. But it also means that I am not going to lose my work on the light theme. Can't give an ETA, but it's not too long out.

Does it look different on your side? If so, can you tell me the OS and browser you are using? Also, can you take a screenshot and post it here?

 

On Macs, you press CMD⌘ + SHIFT + 3 to screenshot.

 

On Windows, you press Windows Logo (or ALT) Key + PrtScn.
If your computer does not have the PrtScn button, you may use Fn + Windows Logo (or ALT) Key + Space Bar to do it. 

Windows 10 Home 64 bit, Chrome. Not that big of a deal, I can go to full screen or eliminate the bookmarks bar and that helps:

Ah, okay. So it is kicking you into tablet/larger mobile view since it thinks it is less than 980 pixels wide after increasing the magnification.

 

Is it a larger text size that would be better for you? There is a Chrome plug-in called Stylebot that can overwrite site styles you could install and I could give you some stuff to paste into it to make it work. I'd be happy to do it if it would help. Just let me know what is too small at normal 100% magnification and I can put something together.

Actually at 110% the text is big enough but expands the sidebar way up, either way I've figured out workarounds so it's not that big of a deal; If I find it unworkable I'll get back with you :

Okay, so to account for the zoom since it would break the layout for a lot of people if I applied it site-wide:

1. Install the Stylebot extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylebot/oiaejidbmkiecgbjeifoejpgmdaleoha?hl=en
2. Click on this icon towards the top beside where the ADP icon is:  
3. Click Open Stylebot from the menu: 
4. Paste this in: 

   #ipsLayout_sidebar {

   width: 270px !important;

   max-width: 270px !important;

   min-width: 270px !important;

   }

After that, when you zoom in (as long as it isn't so much that it shows the mobile menu) you will get something that looks like this: 

 

 

It's an easy fix and I hope that it helps!

For what it's worth I prefer the light theme because it's too hard to distinguish  and separate quotes from replies. I'm assuming the light theme still needs tweaking because it doesn't show any posts, just the computer language inside the reply box.

The light theme that was available that you saw shouldn't have been. It somehow got enabled. That was from maybe 7-8 years ago so the back-end has totally changed.  That's why it showed a bunch of code.

 

The real light theme should be coming pretty soon.

The new theme looks great! It just keeps getting better. I do agree the quoted text is very hard to distinguish from the reply, and a fix would be the icing on the cake.

 

As someone who frequents a lot of forums, you have truly knocked this one out of the park Guru.
