scine09
Don't confuse extreme interest with the intrique and wanting your team to "win" the competition for signing him, with actively wanting him. I saw a lot of people say they were warming to the idea or coming around or, etc. That's exactly where I fit in. As another poster said last week it was more wanting to win "the contest" than actually wanting Manning. Getting Manning felt like a contest that the Broncos won, and that's where I was disappointed. And I'm pissed because I feel like manning used the Titans knowing he wasn't going to sign in TN.
JLocker10
How many playoff games did Manning have a 125 passing rating? That was Tebow's rating against the Steelers. Manning took a team to the playoffs 7 times in which he did not win a damn game. And he only had Harrison, Wayne, Clark, James, Tarik Glenn, Saturday, Freeney, Mathis, and Sanders all in their primes at the same time And somehow we were expecting him to win us a SB within the next three years with less talent and Manning being 36 with multiple neck injuries

Manning is still a very good QB and signing him (from a strictly QB play standpoint) was a no brainer but when you factor in Locker, his price and all the other factors it becomes a bit more grey. Personally I really like Locker and the main thing out of this offseason that I've wanted was to improve the interior OL.

If he was asked to throw 20+ times would the outcome been different? Im not a fan of Manning's simply for my love of the Titans. But to say he couldn't match Tebow's performance is not true. I can't say for certain because I believe Tebow is someone with all the intangibles. But I just dont see him as anything other than Vince 2.0. prine06
Tebow is horrible. 100%. His gimicky style brings a few wins, but once teams adjust and hes asked to be a NFL QB, his career wont last much longer.

TitansWycheck89
I told you that would happen. Fans are always going to look out in the best interests of their team. Then why go after Manning in the first place?
scine09
Then why go after Manning in the first place? I think that Bud Adams made a smart business move because no matter the outcome I think he was going to gain fans. There are people out there I'm sure who are now pissed at Manning because he didn't come to the Titans and will now support the Titans. And had he signed with the Titans we know how many new fans that would have brought plus the national attention and jersey sales. He did this as a businessman. As far as on the football field, it was definitely an unnecessary move. But I can understand why he did it.
Eighteen
It will probably cause more people to root against the Broncos than root for the Titans, scine.

wtenn
I guess the injury doesn't really create a scenario where Peyton was going to be paid a modest amount, when 4-5 teams are pursuing him in a desperate fashion. I am surprised he didn't get more. And if Manning had any modicum of class, he would have politely declined when offered the retired jersey number of Frank Tripucka. Here's to hoping his legacy is someday treated with the same level of courtesy.
IowaOiler
I am at least happy that it appears Bud did have a limit to his affection. It seems to me that the main reason for him picking the Broncos was the longer term deal, and that means Bud has some sense as to the importance of Locker playing. Whether it was on his own or was from the FO explaining it to him in detail, it is good that he understood the importance of the long-term plan, regardless of his desire to win a championship now.
