And how, exactly, do you think de Blasio's comments were worse than Trump's (POTUS, if you forgot)?

Which false narrative? (Seriously not sure what you mean) I caught some of the interview and he said the had very reputable distributors and he was keeping an eye on them, but never said he instructed them to sell to US first. Also said some of these brokers selling to cash buyers could have had their own stockpile. I am sure the truth lies in the middle somewhere. I think he said most of the exports went to Canada and Latin America.

As long as those masks were not already contracted at the time Trump issued the directive they could not have sold them to foreign buyers without the government having first dibs. Notice Trump signed an executive order doing just this, except he did it 2 months too late.

The CEO of 3M explained doing this would be a bad idea because although it would keep some masks here, it would result in the decrease of net masks available here. Here is a direct quote: “In addition, ceasing all export of respirators produced in the United States would likely cause other countries to retaliate and do the same, as some have already done,” 3M added. “If that were to occur, the net number of respirators being made available to the United States would actually decrease.” I am guessing you have seen that China allowed the Patriots team plane to export 1.2 million masks to the US the other day. 3M has also secured approval from China to export to the U.S. 10 million more masks that were manufactured by 3M in China. There are so many things people should be ripping Trump for but this is not one of them.

It does nothing of the sort. It merely gives th federal government first dibs. Once they’re stocked the companies can trade with whomever they wish. It's not a false equivalence, and it also would have depended on these much smaller distributors to comply with the law (doubtful IMO).

Yes, it is a false equivalence because he’s acting as if exports would be shutdown and starting his opinion from there. Since that isn’t the case his entire point is without merit. Exports wouldn’t shutdown.
