Reading up on him (only remember his as saints hc) he ran a multiple from zone blitz scheme but he also has run a defense like ours when he had 2 because of injuries and limitations. So I will give him a stamp of approval on this one.

He's cut from the same cloth as LeBeau in terms of defensive style.

Could also end up calling plays.

We don't know for sure that Vrabel will call plays, even if he's "running" the defense day to day.

Do you think he would be as good calling plays as Pees?

No, I don't. Pees was a legendary type play caller imo

But Haslett is not a bad play caller.

Why not hire him as Defensive coordinator. I fear Vrabel is becoming a control freak. I hope he doesn't turn into Jeff Fisher Lol.

He's controlling in a different way than Fisher.

Vrabel is much more controlling when it comes to football and training operations than Fisher.

But Fisher was much more controlling organizationally and when it comes to personnel. He basically wanted to be team president/CEO.

I think he will be a ilb and assistant dc. May not get the title but it makes sense. Vrable seems like a guy willing to take input. Will he use it? Idk, but he will listen from what I can take grom him.

I guess we couldn’t expect to get one as good as Pees. He was responsible for a great deal of the teams success. Nobody had shut down the Ravens all season.

Hopefully Vrabel and Bowen learned a thing or two from him over the last couple years.

The big hitters on defensive philosophy and game planning are going to be Vrabel/Bowen/Haslett I would think.

By all accounts, Vrabel was already heavily involved in game planning and we already know he's a hands on HC.  This idea that it's a catastrophe is comical.  We don't even know if Vrabel will be calling the plays......

The important thing is that the scheme isn't changing and that's a good thing.

When you have cooked up a great dish, you have to watch changing ingredients.  Might not taste the same.

Well Pees was leaving so what's your point?  Change was inevitable on the staff as well as with the personnel.

It wasn't like Pees was going rogue on defense and there are elements of the unit that have to improve - namely red zone efficiency and the pressure rate.
