DO YOU LOVE OR HATE AMERICA??

Serious Question.  Do you really love this country and all the people in it right now?  If America stayed just like it is from now on, do you love it?

I love America.  I love the little babies.  I love rodeo riders.  I love rap artist.  I love Mexicans.  I love Jews.  I love Evangelicals.  I love a day in Watertown, TN.  I love a day in NYC.

That said, I have preferences.  The reason I ask this question is because I don't think some people love America by the ideas they represent and support.  I think they love America if.  I also doubt they know what that if is, it's just something else.  When you see a man with a sign begging, do you ever envision a baby that grew into that man?  What happened?

I really think there are people who are just dissatisfied and angry.  I think they latch onto dogmas and believe they represent some kind of utopia.  Sometimes the right direction is more obvious than the wrong one, but if you have no love in your heart how can you decide.

Take the heart test.  Get still for five minutes.  Think of Love.  What it means and how it feels.  When you reach a calm state ask, not tell but ask-what is truly right?  It may take several tries, but the answers will come.

please excuse misspelled words and poor grammar.

Ruh-Roh.....TNThunder?

But, seriously, I love the IDEA of America. I just hate what it's become (a country ran by corporations, lobbyists, and sell-your-vote to the highest bidder politicians)  and the incredible amount of backwards morons that inhabit it.

After Hannity doubled down on his tv show that it was moderate Dems in favor of the wall who forced Pelosi and Schumer to 'cave', a commentator on Fox News this afternoon came out and admitted that there was a phone call between McConnell and Trump where McConnell told Trump he couldn't hold Repubs from abandoning the shutdown that forced his hand. I'm all for free speech; but Hannity pushes the limit to beyond the pale; and the fact that a so called news network allows him an hour to put out pure propaganda in favor of one side is unforgivable. Any one with the slightest bit of objectivity has to turn the channel after about ten minutes unless watching it for entertainment purposes of absurdity.

I love America and the vision of what we as a nation suppose to stand for. However, I absolutely hate our divisive politics, the chasm it has created among Americans, the soulless people who exploit that chasm and the simple-minded who make it so easy to exploit.

This is what I am wanting to see answered.  Are there people who hate what it is so bad, they would rather destroy it than allow it to continue?  What does the new America they envision look like and will that be better for every American?  What's the end game?  What is it better for everyone that would get people to abandon the idea of right and wrong, just to have it their way?

This has to stop.

I used to read the newspaper regularly.  Then one day I saw where the average newspaper in America was written on a sixth-grade level so the people could understand it.

America is broken. Perhaps it needs to be destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up.

I absolutely agree with this 100%.

The media, journalism and freedom of speech is a great thing but like anything else, you have to fact check and filter it.

If you love America blindly then it’s just a product of nationalistic fervor. There are great reasons to love America. There are also great reasons not to. It shouldn’t be a simple, obvious choice.

It’s kind of like asking if you love your kids. If they go to prison for murder do you still love your kid? If they are addicted to drugs do you still love them? If they drop out of college and become a stripper or porn star do you still love them? Yes, most people probably do, but perhaps it’s not so cut and dry. And while you can still love that child perhaps no one else would be able to feel the same way about them as you might.

This is a great answer that brings out exactly where I want to see the conversation go.  Yes.  I need to love your kid, even if he messed up.  I can still want to see your child have a better life experience.  I can have compassion for you as a parent and know you did the best you could.  Just like you have compassion for people who don't have adequate health insurance.  Some of them are irresponsible, but they are still American.

There seems to be a wave of ideas going that America would be better off without so n' so in it.  I am totally against people just coming here and staying, the country can't function if people just overload the systems we have in place.  But I have no segment of people I could just as well do without.  I had a long conversation with a friend yesterday who supports DT.   She seemed to not understand there is only one God, for those who believe in a creator.  She said her friend who is Muslim believed in a different one.  I said the name isn't God, just as JW call God Jehovah.  What difference does it make if someone calls God Allah?  I pointed out that he was her friend.  She agreed and said he was the most Christ-like person she knew.

All this politics is busting up a good deal.  I think we are arguing with people we care a great deal about, just like the dinner table at Thanksgiving.  Today it's reached a seriously destructive level between us, the American people.  There's always going to be maybe .01% of the people who think the best thing to do is kill everybody they don't like and really internally believe it.  I think a lot of people are being drawn into choosing sides with idiots like them when that is nowhere near how they really feel.  Lynch mobs were a group of decent peace loving people.  How many innocent people did they hang?

So, I ask everybody do you love of hate America.

The fact of the matter there is an underlying weakness in America that is being exposed.

Americans have never really had to face true existential threats or endure suffering. Yeah we had to win a war to found the country, but that was small potatoes compared to what most countries have gone through. Historically it was the blink of an eye. We had a Civil War, but that was totally self-induced. Russia just celebrated the 75th anniversary of the lifting of the seige of Leningrad in World War II. That city was besieged for more than 2 years, and at least 1,000,000 died, mostly from starvation/exposure. It was horrific. There is a park now called "victory park" that was the site of a brick factory. During the siege the brick factory was turned into a makeshift crematorium for the overwhelming number of dead bodies. German reconnaisance planes could see the tracks in the snow left by bodies being hauled to the factory.

Americans have never had to go through anything like that. And I am here to say we wouldn't make it. We would fold and give up, esp today's Americans. The old folks who were of age during the Great Depression are about the closest we have to being tough, but other countries would laugh at our Great Depression. They have had depressions worse than that sandwiched between and/or during horrific armed conflicts.

America was founded on the best ideal and principles that have ever been laid down for a country. And people have always fought tooth and nail to come to America because they are inspired by that ideal. But we have never really lived up to that ideal. What we have is we have been blessed with two huge oceans on our western and eastern borders, a very lightly populated land to the north, and weak enemies to the south. We have never really been tested, which means our ability to hew to our lofty founding ideal has never really been tested.

I really fear what would happen to this country if it had to experience true suffering. I hope we never find out, because there is a good chance we would come apart at the seams.
